My parents believed that reading was truly fundamental, and our home was well-supplied with books and periodicals as well as the daily newspaper. We watched the local and national news together every night before supper. Mom drove us to the library every two weeks (when borrowed books were due) to check out more books. Before I was of an age of double-digits I'd read the terrifying books "Alas Babylon" and "Hiroshima." Later I read "Grapes of Wrath," "1984," and other classics. As the 60s progressed and unrest grew I was able to read both the current news about the issues, and see it on TV as well. There was no censorship in our home.
Reading and being taught critical thinking and having my concepts challenged at home and at school made me the liberal that I have been my entire life.
And that right there is why fascists like you and DeSantis and others want to restrict what children learn in public schools. It has NOTHING to do with "CRT" or "grooming" or all that other nasty sexual shit you all are obsessed about.
You are terrified that children will learn that this world is filled with interesting, different, wonderful people -- and that that's okay.
