Are all men are created equal?

switch the infants at birth and it acts the same.
they are created equal. their circumstances are not.

Simply not true, my good friends son was born with severe autism, switch him at birth, and he behaves exactly the same.

It was the circumstances being discussed. Even BP understood that.

So I gather you feel your son is unequal. Thats kind of sad.
Hope his mother still loves him.

“We hold these truths to be self evident… that all men are created equal.”

Do you believe this is true?
Under God and before the law, yes. In between, not so much. For example, look at all the conspiracy theorist dumbasses on JPP. They’re not equal to the sane, intelligent people.

If the right to life and liberty is self evident, why do we have the death penalty?

Jefferson was a slave owner when he wrote those words.

He certainly didn't think women should vote, nor that men without property should vote..

I am just saying what the declaration meant from Jefferson's point of view.

We have obviously interpreted the Declaration more broadly in the intervening years since 1776.

That doesn't diminish that what Jefferson wrote at the time was quite radical.

Political Rhetoric Should Never Be Taken Literally

Jefferson addressed it to the British king and its birth-not-worth ruling class, not to his fellow Americans.

If the right to liberty is unalienable, how could we ever put someone in prison?

We Don't Need More Prisons; We Need More Morgues

Criminals are mutated enemies of the human race, so it doesn't apply to them. It's like saying that soldiers convicted of treason should still get veterans' benefits.

That is precisely why Lincoln was opposed to Slavery since since at least the 1830s.

He felt the Declaration's invocation of natural rights meant blacks were entitled to their lives, their liberty, their happiness.

Even if they were not deemed equal to the white man in political rights. Lincoln never thought, until perhaps near the end of his life, that blacks were entitled to the political rights of white men.
