Lowest unemployment in 50 years

Some tech companies are laying people off, but tech still has a huge shortage of people, so that is not that bad. Everyone I know who quit or was laid off from Twitter has found a new job, paying more.

The stupidest thing Musk did was cut perks, and insult people. It created an environment where the best left and got better paying jobs elsewhere. He is left with some employees who are too desperate to quit, but they are the dregs of the company. He should take the $14 billion offer. It is a $30 billion loss, but most of the loss is in debt that sticks with the company. Twitter still has value, and he could still walk away with something... A year from now, probably not.

An investigation started by Obama, ended by trump, and started again by Biden. The problem with putting people in prison is that the investigation was dead for four years. Scharf rightly points out that he had nothing to do with Wells Fargo at the time of the crimes, and actually asked trump to restart the investigation.

The American economy is very consumer centric. An economy based on war would have more military production in its economy. You would just see soldiers and weapons everywhere. It is a totally different feel to everything.
The stupidest thing Musk did was buy Twitter. Something like 80% of the accounts are bots. What percent of those bots belong to US 'intelligence' ? Everyone I know on a cul-de-sac has their 30-year-old kids living at home with them. They have no opportunity for a career or future.

OTOH...how many platforms like twitter are there?

I don't like Musk but I like him more than I like you.

Twitter did not want Musk to buy Twitter. Musk had to force it to sell by demanding no due diligences... Which means 100% of the accounts could be bots, and he has absolutely no recourse.

But we know that Twitter has a huge, real user base... Or at least it did before Musk came along.

Musk should not have bought Twitter. He should not have gotten rid of the most productive people at Twitter. He should sell it now while he still has a chance to sell it for something.

Right now, it is still unique with a good system. That is the one thing that makes Twitter still worth anything. A year from now, Twitter might as well be AIM, or MySpace... No one will use it.

Even now, it has no workers(or at least none that are worthwhile). $14 billion is too high, considering Twitter has lost its most important asset, its tech workers.

Soooooo, you're gonna go fuck yourself now?

Musk gets most of his billion$ from the pentagon. He's in tight with the deep state. You probably believe humans can survive in space.

We are practically on the cusp of a huge recession worldwide.

With the USA in the best position of almost any other country. Four years ago, economists were moving up the date that China's economy would surpass the USA, today economists are questioning whether it will ever happen.

Odd how things are going so well with Biden as President.

Been to the grocery store lately Salty?

Musk got most of his billions in market value of Tesla, which had a market value of almost all other car companies combined. The Pentagon does not usually invest in private companies, and even if it did, that investment would be small fries compared to Wall Street.

What Musk is good at is identifying things of value, and making them his. He did not found Tesla. He invented nothing at Tesla. But he has made a large part of Tesla his.

In the 1980's I met a Russian who was sure that the only reason Micheal Jackson was successful was because the CIA was pushing him to destabilize the USSR. He literally did not realize how important Jackson was at the time compared to the CIA.

You probably believe humans can survive in space.

That is a different question. It would be very difficult for humans to survive long term anywhere but Earth. Even if the worst happened, and the entire biosphere/atmosphere/whatever else was destroyed on Earth, it would still be easier to survive on Earth. First, Earth has the right gravity. Second, all our stuff is on Earth. Third, we are on Earth. Those three facts make Earth the best place in the known universe to live.

Walt...seriously, you're ignorant.

Been to the grocery store lately Salty?

Three years ago, there were shortages in just about everything at the grocery store. Lately, the grocery store has been well stocked. The prices have risen a bit, but my income has gone up by far more.

Now imagine the people in the rest of the world. Many of them do not have enough money for food. It is getting rough out there in other countries.

That's not what I asked you Salty.

Are you suggesting no other president would have expedited the vaccine?

The CDC did it

Do you imagine trump was in there with them handling test tubes?

Simpleton

The CDC did fuck all, Trump kicked some major arse and got the military involved. However it's not surprising that you would totally downplay his major role in expediting the vaccines, bullshit is your best friend after all.

Yes, yes, I know, I know — this or that “fact-check” thingy on the web claims that Trump and his Operation Warp Speed had nothing to do with this or that development of this or that vaccine. I’ve read them. Most are outrageously petty, using weasel words like “full credit” or “partial credit” or nitpicking to deprive Operation Warp Speed any credit at all, with some focusing on details of one vaccine produced by one pharmaceutical company but ignoring details of others. If you want to navigate your way through them, then go for it. (For the record, PolitiFact did a pretty fair job in its evaluation.) It’s an infuriating exercise that immediately raises one’s B.S.-detectors. But those not poisoned by ideological bias and political hatred know in their hearts that Donald Trump deserves some major credit here.

Again, Joe Biden knows it as well. To repeat: “I think the administration deserves some credit getting this off the ground with Operation Warp Speed,” Biden acknowledged that as he and his wife stuck out their arms for their first vaccine injections in Wilmington. Again, that statement came eight weeks after Biden during the second president debate scoffed at Trump’s assurances that a vaccine was coming by the end of the year.

Biden got his by the end of the year.

The vaccines were developed in places like Germany and England... The US military would develop things in the USA. Your claim makes no sense.

What trump did do was isolate the drug companies from the CDC, and other government scientists by putting political appointees in the middle of everything. The drug companies had no desire to communicate with a bunch of creationists who should not have even been given high school diplomas.

Biden acknowledged that as he and his wife stuck out their arms for their first vaccine injections in Wilmington.

All the Presidents(exs, current, elected) publicly took vaccination shots to try to get the public on board... With one exception. Why is trump the one exception?

Biden got his by the end of the year.

Operation Tiberius (named after the Emperor who killed Jesus) failed miserably to distribute vaccines. Over half the vaccines it tried to distribute were lost. It was a failure of epic proportions, which was only corrected when Biden came to office.

So yes, Biden got his first shot when trump was in office, but I did not. I had to sit through three speeches by Mnuchin promising that the vaccines were on their way to me, but all three were lies. I remember thinking it was unfair that I was being moved to the top of the list... Only to learn that the trump administration had lost the list completely through incompetence.

When Biden came to office, things began to change. I was able to go into a public vaccination center in a mall of all places. Anyone could go, and it cost no money. It was efficient and free. I will always remember which President got me vaccinated, and which president forced me to watch a bunch of videos on my computer of his toady promising vaccinations.
