So, what did we get for all that fun Conservative contrarianism?

What we got is an increasingly dysfunctional country.

Which is the reason Trump continues to be a dominant figure. He not only is the leading Republican figure; he is the leader of the national dysfunction. The House of Representatives just gave a fine demonstration of exactly that.

The trouble began more than two months before the 2020 election when Trump gave a speech that received little notice at the time. He was behind in the polls and had been behind, yet the argument he launched in that speech was that Biden could not win a fair election; he could only win by fraud. It seemed an off the wall Trumpism given the political landscape. The polls never improved. In the last poll based prediction before the election Biden was an 89 percent favorite. He was a clear betting favorite in Vegas. The day before the election Trump met with his top campaign advisors who told him the outlook was grim, but Trump was ready. As the returns came grimly in the next night he didn't wait. The election, he warned, was being stolen. The question was whether his voters would buy it. They did and most still do against a wall of contrary evidence and an utter dearth of supporting evidence.

Conservatives have been "contrary" ever since, and the country suffering because of it.

This thread is intended as an alternative to one of the same title started by the forum chicken who bans everyone he fears will disagree with him.

You must be talking about pEarl, or Pavel as he's known in Moscow.

I've got a slightly differing opinion. I think that fact that it took days and multiple votes and abject crawling on CreamPuff McCarthy's part to get him the gavel -- despite the Toadstool's best efforts -- says that Trump's sun has set. His work here is done; he drained the swamp of the few Republicans who still had spines and principles.

You have no clue as to my ban list, Marty.

I already know what the response would be if Slow Joe committed an ax murder on the White House lawn on live TV.

It would be, "this does not rise to the level of impeachment."

Now, Marty, post one link showing that President Trump called for an insurrection.

He did call for the protestors to protest peacefully.

Poor Marty.

Agree. Although he's trying to take credit for the win from his bunker at Mar A Shithole, the plain truth is that when there are 20+ people voting against the MAGA butt licker, it's a (Arlo Guthrie voice)'movement'.

Once they got picked off one by one, and it was 4 or 5 holdouts, the narrative changed. They would now be held accountable for every day that the House was not functioning, and the laser focus would not be on McCarthy The Incompetent.

It would be on national security. And who was now continuing to jeopardize it.

So they succumbed and voted 'present', which achieved the same result albeit with plausible deniability down the road.

Ironic, as now the real jeopardy to the nation's security can move forward in earnest.

I think you might be lost.

Perhaps you were looking for a circle jerk?

I'm not too worried about what the nearly-toothless (R)s will try to pull in the next session. About the best they'll be able to hope for is to investigate Hunter's laptop. lol

Apparently you're too dumb to realize that the entire forum can see your cowardice and desire for an echo chamber. Or circle jerk, as the case may be.

Poor asshole, your ban list is published. If you don't see the connection between the invention of the stolen election and the insurrection the claim inspired you don't belong in this thread or even your own thread by the same title.

Yes, you are a poor asshole, Marty.

Of course the list is published. I explained why I use a ban list but you are obviously too stupid to understand it.

Merely claiming we are a cult because you are a cult of trumpies is infantile

Trump is done asshole

Your attempt to destroy American democracy failed

Having the house for a couple of months before the indictments come down and ends that isn’t going to change the fact that you guys failed to produce what your dying Putin ordered you to do

We won’t stop protecting our democracy

But soon you assholes will all be in the trash heap of history

I told you to climb back into the sewer before the boot came

You didn’t listen

Enjoy the boot on your ass and the short flight into the sewer

[FONT=&quot]“By 2-1, GOP and GOP-leaning voters now say they want Trump's policies but a different standard-bearer to carry them. While 31% want the former president to run, 61% prefer some other Republican nominee who would continue the policies Trump has pursued.”

He has a third of the Republican voters, he has lost influence, except for a handful of “Freedom Caucus” members.

McCarthy has the Speaker position now, when he finally sees these numbers, he’ll move away from Trump.

Take a hike, pendejo.

Freedom of speech crushes your idiot ideas huh

Weren’t the founders brilliant

They saw your pathetic ass coming

Climb into the sewer and talk to the turds floating by

They don’t talk back

You will be right at home

This is the result of gerrymandering, without manipulating the will of the nation, Democrats would have the majority.

What "policies" did the Toadstool have? Tariffs that cost Americans more money? Doing nothing about illegal immigration except blaming (D)s? Pretending the pandemic was a hoax? Science and medicine-denying stupidity? Racism, bigotry, misogyny? "Only I can save you"? Distrust of the media and desire to jail any reporters who report negatively?

I hope CreamPuff McCarthy keeps sniveling after Trump and drives away even more (R) voters.

The long list is its own ample explanation. What you say about it is an asshole's self justification.

We really need an impartial committee to draw up districts, both parties have been guilty of gerrymandering.

Yes, I may be giving McCarthy more credit than he deserves.

Marty, lose the insults, you aren't very good at it.

No self justification...that's your bag...and intentional obtuseness...or perhaps not intentional.

Poor Marty.

Well, that is the one thing you may be better at, dimwit.
