Not an "oops" Desh, as it was not a prediction. It was the goal to have it done in one vote, he didn't reach the goal. They are still leveraging for more things, some that a Speaker cannot guarantee (like chair of committees, the Committee on Committees chooses those things). These folks do not trust him. And the Republican Party is gifted at circling up a shooting squad and firing in order to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

This will get settled eventually, and I still think McCarthy will be Speaker.

I agree that it's a major problem. But changing the rules isn't going to fix that. Getting rid of the idiots in Congress will fix that. It's on the voters. McCarthy isn't in favor or opposed to any of those things. He is in favor of one thing.... him becoming Speaker. If you think anyone involved gives a shit about the American People, I've got some swampland in Florida I'd like to sell you.

The more rational that voted against Kevin were voting against a corrupt system, not so much against the person.
At least that’s how my vote would have been.
As an added Plus, it’s a big “fuck you “ to Trump. Not that should weigh into any vote but it’s lagniappe.

I lament the fact that some of those that voted against Kevin are nuts and kooks because I’d prefer to completely dissociate myself from them.
Our senator Dan Sullivan voted against the last boondoggle bill because he had 48 hours to read a 4,155 page $1.7 TRILLION SPENDING BILL.
That is insane.

You may be right that these radicals being Far-Right, but, perhaps we need to take a closer look!

Because there may be more dynamics to their makeup, that doesn't meet the eye at the moment.

This may well be a coalition of people that have just drawn their line in the sand, of Republican House Members who want their party to move on past Donald Trump and have the guts to say so, and do so!

Doing so and saying so are still two separate things!

It takes both to actually be able to move on!

Just a thought!
