CONSPIRICY to Defraud the Untied States

Just how useful to a prosecutor is cherry picked evidence submitted without cross examination or adversarial questioning? That's what the Jan 6 committee is submitting. There was no defense presented. There was no cross examination. All the evidence was cherry picked.

1. The (R)s had a chance to have more of them on the committee; they also had the chance to set up a bipartisan committee of their own. They said NO to both.

2. This was an investigation, not a court of law where there are different rules.

"I woulda gone, honest, but they said blizzard's comin'." "I would have answered the call to arms but my wife said to watch the kids, she had a hair appointment." "My gun was in the shop."

Wait for it!
:)

Even though the fate of the republic is in the balance, my boss won't let me take a vacation day!

That's untrue. It is either a case of you being ignorant or lying. The Republicans chose the members they wanted on the committee. Pelosi herself rejected them. The Republicans then refused to seat other members so Pelosi chose the two Republicans that hate Trump the most--both of which voted for impeaching him twice and put them on the committee.
The committee as constituted was a group putting on the equivalent of a show trail with a pre-determined outcome.

2. This was an investigation, not a court of law where there are different rules.

It was a Stalinist-style show trial with a good dose of Kafka tossed in.

I wish you could be more informed, but it is what it is. Happy holidays/Merry Christmas to you and yours.

They worked out a bipartisan agreement whereby each party would choose 3 members for the committee. Each side would have subpoena power. The House voted to accept this agreement but Republicans killed it in the Senate. Republicans shot themselves in the foot.

It is as well. The slate of electors is presented to the National Archives, as well as Congress, which IMO makes it federal as well as state.

Maybe. The National Archives and Congress just accept and count the electoral votes certified by the states. I don't think the Archives accepted the false electors since they had already received the official state results.

I think in one state it is a forgery issue. I'm not sure what laws it might violate in other states.

Awww, reality hurts. Here:

Trump basically ordered MAGAs to riot in the streets if there were ever a criminal referral.

Trump had no authority to order them to do anything. That is why it is hard to convict for inciting a riot or similar offenses. They did not have to follow any orders and those rioters who used the defense that they were just following Trump's orders were not successful using that defense.

If the DOJ does not indict and prosecute Trump, it would be a travesty of justice?!! It would set a very bad precedent too, that a former president and his enablers are above the law too?!! It also means, what Trump and his cronies tried to do is alright and is without consequences too?!!

The DOJ can only present it to a grand jury. They can't make them vote to indict. Then, the DOJ has to decide if their case is strong enough to get a conviction (like they did Hillary).

What is the defense for attacking the Capitol and trying to stop the electoral vote count?

Cross examination and defense are presented at the trial if he is indicted.

Conspiracy to Defraud the UNITED STATES.....

Knowingly and willingly make false Statements to the United States.

Incitement of Insurrection.

Obstruction of an official proceeding.

Seems clear he is guilty of all four.

This is describing Democrats.

Fiction.

Whether you like it or not, in two weeks the Jan 6 committee is no more. Gone, done, finished, disbanded. Everything to date they've done likely ends up in a paper shredder. This isn't some defense of Trump, it's factual reality. The Republicans take control of the House. A third of the members on the committee are no longer in Congress, and others, like Schiff are likely stripped of all committee membership.

Those are facts, not opinions.

Do you really think the DoJ will move in the next 14 or so days--over Christmas and New Year--to do anything with what this committee sends them? The committee might as well wrap the whole thing up in masses of red tape.

I also suspect the DoJ, FBI, and other agencies of the administration will be quite busy next year trying to explain away or hide what they've been doing on a wide range of fronts. While that part is opinion, I can see it happening.

Just sayin'...

Just as all the other bullshit attempts to attack Trump have turned out. Waste of taxpayer $$$$

WRONG. There WERE NO electoral votes from at least seven States. Congress does NOT have authority to choose the electoral college members for any State.
There is no such thing as a 'false elector'.
