When it comes to Hunter Biden's drug addiction, Conservatives like ExpressLane pull no punches...

But when it comes to Ted Cruz causing his daughter to attempt suicide because he's an awful bigot, it is somehow shameful.

I'm not even talking about his daughter, I'm talking about him being the piece of shit that pushed his daughter to this point with his bigotry and abuse.

That's just the kind of person he is...and the kind of people his defenders are. Nothing matters except their personal comfort. You have a bisexual daughter? Ridicule her publicly, vote against her, write policy that harms her so long as Ted Cruz gets to go in front of cameras and preen like a bad actor. Then when she tries to commit suicide, cast Ted Cruz as the victim because in the minds of these people, parents have no capacity to emotionally or psychologically abuse their kids.

BTW - Ted Crud WANTED to be an actor, but he was too untalented and ugly.

It most likely is a pattern of neglect/abuse. It is also none of my business. Again, I hope the family will get help for the young lady, and that she'll be okay.

As severe as this is, her cuttings seem more like a cry for help than a sincere suicide effort. Whether Cruz being a douchebag is a factor or not remains to be seen. We'll probably never find out for another 4 years or more after she turns 18.

Well one thing we know for sure is that lack of parental support is one of the major reasons why LGBTQ kids and teens attempt suicide.

More often than not, the attempted suicide is by a kid who is stuck in a toxic and abusive home.

LGBTQ kids in homes without parental or family support are six times more likely to attempt suicide than LGBTQ kids in loving, supportive homes.

Whereas Hunter's drug abuse might be from latent psych issues from the car accident, it's just as probable that he was an entitled lawyer who had way too much money, and simply didn't have a very good relationship with his drug of choice?
There is no question that he's already had a lifetime of sadness to cope with.

I can't speculate why she was repulsed by her father in that video clip, it's possible he was just embarrassing her.

We learn more and more every day through cognitive behavioral therapy that the scars we get in childhood directly affect how we act as adults.

Unknown if it's LGBTQ related. The odds are against. OTOH, teen mental health is, and should be, a big issue. Mostly, IMO, due to social media.

Remember the Congressional Facebook Whistleblower testimony about, back in the day, kids left the bullies at school. Now the bullies follow them into their bedrooms via PDAs and the Internet. Sure, all the hate against Cruz is probably a factor, but the main issue is probably the same problem most teens are facing in the US.

FWIW, yes, LGBTQ kids are more at-risk for suicide than straight kids, but straight kids still attempt suicide.
