Interracial couple denied marriage license in La.

SM gave me some negative rep points for my comments above.

Must've struck a nerve? :cof1:

Don't worry, Soc. The public school bit is SM's standard answer anytime someone brings up the priests molesting the altar boys.

He doesn't condemn the priests and the system that enabled them. He points fingers elsewhere. He ignores the fact that the catholic church worked hard and spent millions in order to hide these pedophiles in robes.

there are a lot of racist like southern man in Louisiana, they think as long as they themselves are not holding the black man back there's no discrimination going on.
I hope they sue and kick this guys but, La needs several legal setbacks to get it's head out of the last century.
Neg reps to both for baseless allegations.

You do not know this is true as the catholic church engaged in a criminal conspiracy to conceal the id's of Priests involved in molesting children. Your sitting pope wrote a letter telling parishes to conceal them until the statute of limitations ran. If this had happened in the Boy Scouts of America, the leader of BSA would be in prison.
Link?

Neg reps to both for baseless allegations.

I guess we both struck a nerve. Did the priests do bad things to you, SM?

Look, on numerous occasions you have answered accusations about priests with comments about public schools. No one has denied that there are pedophiles in the public schools. But the big difference is that the public schools have not spent big money and worked hard to protect teachers from prosecution or even detection. The church has.

And I have not seen you condemn the pedophile priests on a single occasion. And if you did, I am willing to bet you didn't do it nearly as often as you threw out that "more kids are molested in public schools" comments, like it means anything in the context of the discussion.

Neg rep me some more. I am not one of those babies who whine about neg reps.

He claimed that he did it out of concern for the children, not race.

By the way, before you get your panties in a wad about this, I don't defend this guy either way.

I don't give a damn about why he claims he did it. It is against the law to do it. Its not his choice. If he doesn't want to recognize or perform interracial weddings, then he needs to take his ignorant ass out and find another job.

The days of letting such bigotry go by without remarks is long gone.

...Did the priests do bad things to you, SM?...
Since there is no record of a priest where I grew up experiencing an unexplained death apparently not.

Fact is though that you bash Catholics for this while ignoring other denominations, public schools and other places where adults are supervising children while providing no evidence that The Church incidents occur at a greater occurrence, and no evidence that of a greater percentage of cover-ups.

I would have performed a wedding for you...provided you & your bride agreed to sit through 2-30 min. counseling sessions. :) The JOP in this article is a goober...that's all I have to say about that.
The Sentiment is much appreciated my friend. I would have gladly done the counciling.

Oh thats right. I forgot you are a "real" man who would kill anyone who trangresses against you. I bet you even beat people up who cut you off in traffic. LOL

You are conveniently ignoring the point. The organization of the catholic church transfered and protected known pedophiles. The public school system does not do that. And the fact that it happens other places (whether more often or less often) does not change the facts that numerous priests have molested children, and the church has gone to great lengths to protect them and to cover up for them.

I think "red herring" is in the list at your Logical Fallacies link?

If so, a point for me and a point for Soc.

I just gave you a positive one to make for the moron's neg rep.

Quite obviously you did indeed strike a nerve.

Thank you, my friend. I honestly do not know what the fuss is over the rep points.

But I thank you.

In my younger days in Boston and New York I can recall several incidents where an offending driver antagonized The Southern Man into a out-of-car conflict. Each time I quickly accepted the challenge and each time the offender subsequently backed down. :)

In 2001, while he was a cardinal, he issued a secret Vatican edict to Catholic bishops all over the world, instructing them to put the Church's interests ahead of child safety.

Father Tom Doyle, a Vatican lawyer until he was sacked for criticising the church's handling of child abuse claims, says: "What you have here is an explicit written policy to cover up cases of child sexual abuse by the clergy and to punish those who would call attention to these crimes by the churchmen.

You referenced an article about a TV program that makes accusations. Where's the evidence?
