Do you believe in free speech?

DeSantis promoted and signed a law limiting what teachers and college professors can teach in schools…. Are you cool with that?

Yes. There are limits on speech. Do you think a teacher or college professor, particularly at a publicly funded school or university should be free to teach students say, insurrection or train them to be terrorists?

Sure, that's taking the example to the absurd, but it points out there are limits nonetheless.

Should teachers and professors be free to teach material that is clearly a lie and full of shit? How about conspiracy theories (outside a class on them)? Are you fine with teachers using propaganda, lies, and other similar techniques on their students?

It's one thing for a teacher or professor to hold insane, questionable ideas and express them personally. It's a whole 'nother thing when they push them on their students and then threaten those students with failing their class if those students don't openly and avowedly agree with them. That's what the DeSantis thing is about. Teachers and professors pushing their bullshit, insane, delusional, political ideas down student's throats in a captive setting.

You and I both know that's bullshit. Brandon had a ministry of truth. I guess the bane was a little to commie even for you people. You leftists are brain damaged

You don’t even know what the Ministry of truth was. Stupid idiot.

So the First Amendment applies only to the District of Columbia? Fascinating.

The 1st Amendment has applied to the states since 1925. IntotheNight is behind on his constitutional law.

It didn't just apply to D. C. but to federal government actions.

I have the freedom not to believe in free speech.

Maybe you do; it's certainly possible for you to have that belief. But sincerely holding such a belief would be profoundly immoral for a White, "Nordic", Christian Westerner, living in what remains of America (NB: America is sick and dying as we speak - it swallowed a dose of slow-acting poison in 1965. I calculate it's got 100, maybe 150 years, before it croaks). It would be equivalent - for example - to (seriously) holding the belief: "I have the "freedom" to gun down a classroom full of elementary school kids with an automatic rifle.

The above examples are not really violations of free speech but the teacher is violating his contract requiring him to teach the curriculum.

The DeSantis law doesn't really prevent bullshit, insane, or delusional ideas. It just prohibits what the Republican legislature disagrees with--like racial concepts which offend any of the children.

In practice it is impossible to regulate faculty speech. The problem today is faculty members have it coming from both sides. Liberals don't want any speech or activities which could be considered racist and conservatives don't want anything that could be interpreted as critical race theory.

You have the freedom to believe anything you choose including gunning down elementary children (as long as you don't act on it).

That's a good straw man argument. Props to you.

We have Christian schools and colleges. :dunno:

See above.

That was too easy. Put more effort into your trolling.

The first amendment does not apply to State governments. State governments have full authority over the curriculum taught in State schools.

The 1st amendment does not apply to the States. Nothing changed the 1st amendment in 1925. It only applies to Congress, and by extension, the federal government.

1st Amendment said:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
