Supply side tax cuts are criticized because they have not once provided the promised lifting up of those at the bottom. Supply side tax cuts have only increased the wealth inequality in the US.

No method has worked consistently.

Capitalism has worked consistently. It is the voluntary production of products and services for voluntary sale to voluntary buyers at the agreed up on price. Anyone can play. Rich, poor, and everyone in between. If they want to work and produce a product or service that someone wants, they will make money. That's what capitalism is.

At one time there was less inequality but everyone lived at a lower standard of living.

Inequality is caused by socialism. Socialism pays people that don't want to work or produce anything useful for anyone. It is the road to slavery. It is the road to serfdom. It is the road to poverty.

If you had read the Constitution you would know this is not an "irrelevant quote of the 16th amendment" but the 14th amendment. Since the topic was that the 14th limits action of states, this was the relevant part of the 14th.
