Everyone ready for "Election Denial: the Sequel"

Trump has fundamentally altered the fabric of our electoral politics, likely for a generation. Over half of the GOP candidates for the midterms are full-blown 2020 election deniers, or have at minimum openly questioned the outcome.

So, what is going to happen when some of those candidates lose? It's not hard to imagine. We're going to get a repeat of 2020, multiplied by the # of Republican deniers who come up short. I'd guess that we'll have dozens of candidates who refuse to concede their races, and claim that the election was stolen from them.

Fun times ahead.

I am sure its coming, its likely the dreaded liberal Nanobots the Democrats are releasing into vaccines causing liberal votes.

I support Biden. But his refusal to have Trump prosecuted for the violent coup is an error that erases the success of his administration.

Stacey Abrams still has still not conceded the 2020 gubernatorial race in Ga.

Another one of your dud threads, BE.

“... the success of his administration...”

This is rich.

Biden’s success includes out of control inflation, borders and crime, a fentanyl crisis, loss of energy independence and a nuclear confrontation with the Russian Federation.

I keep waiting for the announcement that if Republicans do not win X seats in 2022 it will be because of cheating.

OVER 150 EXAMPLES OF DEMOCRATS DENYING ELECTION RESULTS
JUN 28, 2022

Democrats Have A Lengthy History Of Casting Doubt On Election Results
FOR DECADES, DEMOCRATS HAVE REFUSED TO ACCEPT THE RESULTS OF ELECTIONS THEY LOST

Biden and Democrats have a long history of contesting election outcomes.
Many Democrats, including Hillary Clinton and Barbra Lee (D-CA), Maxine Waters (D-CA), and Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), have cast doubt on every single Republican presidential victory in the last two decades.

Every single Democrat president since 1977 has cast doubt on the legitimacy of U.S. elections.
As recently as this year, Biden cast doubt on the legitimacy of the upcoming 2022 midterms.

DEMOCRATS CALLED THE 2000 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION “STOLEN,” “FRAUDULENT,” AND A “COUP D’ETAT”

For years, Democrats have refused to accept the results of the 2000 presidential election.
Al Gore repeatedly claimed that he was the real winner of the 2000 election.
In 2002, Gore claimed he “would have won” if every vote in Florida was counted and that he “absolutely” believed he would become president after the ordered recount.
Gore’s wife, Tipper, said that “I still believe we won.”
In 2016, Gore brought up the 2000 election during a rally for Hillary Clinton and did not refute chants from the audience saying he won.
In 2017, Gore implied Jeb Bush “may have had something” to do with him losing Florida.
Gore, in 2017: “Actually, I think I carried Florida."
Hillary Clinton, more than once, questioned the legitimacy of the 2000 election.
In 2002, Clinton said Bush had been “selected” and not elected president.
In 2016, Clinton said that the Supreme Court “took away a presidency” in Bush v. Gore.
Then-President Bill Clinton in 2001 claimed that Gore actually won the election, suggesting that all the votes in Florida were not counted and that the Supreme Court had altered the outcome.
Clinton: “The only way [Republicans] could win the election was to stop the voting in Florida.”
Former President Jimmy Carter has repeatedly denied the results of the 2000 election.
Carter, in 2005: “There is no doubt in my mind that Al Gore was elected president.”
Carter, in 2014: “I don't think that George W. Bush won the election in 2000.”
Terry McAuliffe repeated claims that the 2000 election was “stolen” for over two decades.
Repeatedly in 2001, then-DNC Chairman McAuliffe claimed that Al Gore won the election.
In 2004, McAuliffe falsely accused Republicans of “stealing” the 2000 presidential election.
In 2008, McAuliffe accused Republicans of “stealing” the 2000 election in his autobiography.
In 2017, McAuliffe once again claimed that Al Gore “did win the election.” ... "

Oh yeah - I forgot about Clinton's smile. That's so comparable to 1/6 and 2 solid years of rallying millions of people to believe that American elections are rigged.

Some predictable responses on this thread. Just to clarify: there is ZERO comparison between what any Dem or Republican or anyone has done in the past in terms of contesting results or casting doubt on election integrity and Trump's 2 year, relentless, ego-driven campaign to convince his supporters that the 2020 election was stolen and that there was "massive fraud" and that American elections are no longer reliable. Zero.

Btw, Trump also said there was "massive fraud" in 2016 - when he WON.

The so-called "hanging chads" was part of a legally-allowed recount in FL when the election was within a certain percentage. Gore blew it by now having the full statewide recount, which is why he lost in court.

But what did he do when he lost in court? Oh, yeah - he conceded the race, urged his supporters to get behind the new President, and moved on.

Sorry. There are no comparisons.

Is the gapped tooth cow Abrams up for re-election?

Election deniers, another of the dumb, lame and moronic talking point from the DNC and their media acolytes.

You voted for Biden, you owe ALL Americans who didn't an apology. :palm:

LOL

I almost put in the OP that some rightie would bring up Abrams.

Honestly - that doesn't even qualify as whataboutism.

What happened in 2020 didn't happen in a vacuum. There was build up to it. In just the 21st century alone we've had accusations of Bush stealing both the 2000 and 2004 elections and of course Trump was an illegitimate President who stole the 2016 election (because of Russia etc.) and then you had Stacey Abrams losing and not conceding. I understand those didn't reach the level of 2020 but this idea of stolen/illegitimate elections isn't new in recent times.

I get it, as a liberal you'd rather focus on Republicans. But if you're trying to have a sober and serious discussion on how did we get where we are then everything is on the table and that includes what I wrote above.
