No, they didn't. With CFC's they claimed the hole in the ozone layer at the South Pole would "heal and close" if these were eliminated. It's still there and still the same size. Worse, they've found a newer, bigger hole in it.

Then they discover massive rainforests aren't "the lungs of the planet" like they thought. What these knuckleheads don't know would fill the Pacific Ocean, while what they do know wouldn't fill a teacup.

That is pretty well proven at this point, and not really disputable. There is too much "they were wrong about the ice age, so let's ignore all of the warning signs now!" kind of talk. The planet is letting us know we can't continue this way, pretty clearly.

Aren't you cute using a logical fallacy to try to support your position.

Let's give some other examples of that logical fallacy.
There was ice back in 1616. That proves that freezers can't work since freezers were not the cause of ice back then.
There were rivers that were blocked with debris causing the river to back up and create a lake. That proves that man can't dam a river with a concrete dam to create a lake since that was not the cause of dams causing lakes back then.
