Manchin walks back opposition and agrees to $370 billion for climate and energy

$.8 trillion, but tax breaks for semiconductor manufctures to move production here.
(and IRS agents combing thru tax returns)
AT THE SAME TIME THESE KNUCKLEHEADS are establishing a 15% minimum corp tax !
tax cuts and tax increases at the same time - of inflation!
and more tax auditing. that's not going to attract business

What makes you think they know how to attract business?? None of them ever operated a business!

I dont particularly. Much better to cut back on the regulatory enviornment. I wonder if these idiots understand how much water and toxic waste it takes to run a semiconductor factory?

It's a key industry, but most of our supply chains are inexorably tied to China..so i wonder how much worth that whole deal is

Agreed.

Not a whole lot.

Semiconductors are primarily made in Mexico, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. China doesn't make very much in semiconductors. The States have primarily prototyping and design facilities here.
The wafers are made primarily in the States and Japan.
Other electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, and crystals are made primarily in Japan.

China has a lot of PC board manufactures that also provide stuffing services. These are seeing less and less business, however, due to the inability to ship product. A fair bit of that is going to Mexico and Canada now. There's a few in the States.

You forget that China is undergoing severe problems internally and in their ability to ship any product.

Now you can fixate on China for whatever reason you choose to do so, but you are ignoring where a lot of stuff in electronics is manufactured.
