Relatively few teachers could or would. If only one in ten or even twenty wanted to and recieved proper training schools would be safer. Best thing that Uvalde could have done is follow proper security procedures. This could have been avoided just that easily.

I am convince Uvalde was staged by Democrats to make guns look 'bad'. They were willing to sacrifice those kids for it. Democrats will KILL to meet their agenda.

How did that shooter obtain an expensive gun at 18?
Why did cops NOT arrive for OVER AN HOUR despite being literally seconds away from the school?
Why did cops NOT go in to save those children?

Whether someone is a vet is immaterial. An untrained individual shot the bad guy from 40 yds away using a 9mm pistol and hitting him 80% of the time (including the first shot).

Yeah my drafting teacher was ex military and an avid hunter. He was also a sheriff reserve deputy. He drove the school bus for extra income. I'm positive he would have become a school guardian for a small stipend.

Veterans are often trained in the safe handling and marksmanship necessary to use firearms effectively. Teachers are not.

Obviously the problem here is the proliferation of military-style weapons in the hands of civiliians, NOT the fact that armed civilians rarely stop mass shootings. But of course we must not discuss that because reasons.

Most modern public schools are large, spread out buildings and campuses that take several minutes to cross on foot.

If that hare-brained plan were to have a chance to succeed, there would have to be armed teachers all over the school in order to have one nearby when a shooting began.

And of course, the chances are nowadays that the shooter will be wearing body armor which can be easily obtained, while the teacher won't be.

So your solution is to stand there defenseless. Riiiiiight.

And even if those two situations were dealt with, a shooter bursting into a classroom would have time to rack up a sizeable body count before any armed teacher could secure his/her weapon from its locked, secure location, don their body armor and carefully make their way towards the sound of gunfire, still not knowing exactly which classroom it is coming from.

Paradox. You are describing a shooting in a classroom where THERE IS ALREADY A TEACHER.

And during the time that process is taking place, parents and families are having their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and grandchildren, slaughtered by bullets all because a bunch of jackasses who can't get it through their thick skulls that the old west and pioneer days are long gone and most of that good guys vs bad guys shoot 'em up shit was all just Hollywood make believe bullshit to begin with.

Most actors don't know the first thing about guns.

Just one more point: Most of these shooters have military-style multi-round rifles. They are much more accurate at a distance than the typical handgun that an armed teacher (or school officer for that matter) would have. They can also shoot through windows, doors, and walls.

But the gun-humpers think it's perfectly okay for an untrained, un-vetted, unlicensed civilian to own them.

There is no such thing as a 'military style assault rifle'. Almost all rifles are multi-round. Rifles are more accurate, but that doesn't mean much at 40 yds or less. Both pistols and rifles can shoot through doors, windows, and walls.

Yes some teachers in school should be armed for the exact reasons you pointed out. Campuses are large and arming several teachers in several areas of the school is a very smart idea. Teachers are people too and can be trained to defend their own lives and the lives of their students. At Parkland and unarmed coach ran at the shooter to protect the lives of students. He died, I bet he wished he was armed and trained. If a 22 year old kid in a mall can do it a motivated teacher with even more proper training can do it too. Nothing motives people like the desire to protect their own lives. Just remember when seconds count the police are just minutes away.

Our family has five currently-teaching instructors. The only one that I know for sure who has ever even fired a gun is my youngest daughter. My late husband taught her how to shoot a .22 rifle, just for fun. She did not care for it. The others don't even own a firearm.

The 22 year old at the mall took out the shooter at the mall with a handgun. The mall shooter had an AR 15 type weapon. The element of surprise is big.

First, a gun is NOT as easy to purchase as a toaster oven, and second, it would matter if they were (and they should be). Again, he is only justifying reasons to carry a gun to protect yourself and the innocent.

And they shouldn't volunteer to become part of an armed teacher guardian program and to go through the regular training. Not every teacher is suitable to become an armed guardian. My mother was a teacher and she wouldn't have made a good armed teacher either. I train regularly at the shooting range. One of my son's fireman coworkers and his wife were shooting at the same range with us. She was a principal at a local school. She is an avid shooter and is an excellent shot and conceal carries. She would make a great trained guardian.

There is obviously nothing wrong with having such a training program for teachers.

Here a good point is brought up. Anything can be a weapon. Any weapon is legit to use. The 2nd amendment does not specify weapon by type, brand name, size of magazine (or fuel tank!), etc. ANY WEAPON!
