All politicians make promises/pronouncements on the campaign trail that they don’t/can’t keep whether it’s because they’re lying or just real world realities. We all heard candidate Biden speak about Saudi Arabia and making them a pariah etc.
Let’s be real, if he didn’t have the approval ratings he currently does - in large part because of inflation (gas prices) he’s not making this trip to Saudi Arabia. You think Trump cared about Saudi Arabia’s human rights violations? It’s possible he did I guess but it wasn’t going to stop him from meeting with them and talking oil etc. That’s the difference I’m talking about. Biden didn’t make this trip now because of the killing of the journalist.
Oh, I know he didn't go because of the journalist. But that murder is still festering beneath our relations with SA. Khashoggi was applying for US citizenship, working in the US, making a routine visit to the Saudi consulate and ends up dead and dismembered. I think we deserve an answer about this atrocity.
