"US Teachers Have Had It"

In a general sense can you pinpoint kind of when things started to change? As a former athlete and sports fan many of us can think of the kind of domineering head coach who had a more my way or the high way type attitude and you either went along with it or you weren't on the team. Today we consider those types antiquated. Is there a similar analogy in teaching?

yes. with brain damaged marxist totalitarian liars it's their way or the highway.

Charter schools are privately owned, for-profit institutions that get tax dollars to operate which in turn, sucks resources away from public schools that desperately need every penny they can get.

Only in what passes for the "minds" of rwnj assholes, could such a thing seem like a legitimate use of tax dollars.

Not to mention the hypocrisy of it all.

The bunch who shits their drawers over taxes and gub'mint spending being too high, cheer this nonsense because they think it's a stick in the eye of lib'ruls and their dang ol' lib'rul edjukashun 'n shee-it.

Dumbass rednecks.

The thing is its not just Libertarians who support charter schools, there are a number of Democrats who do as well including President Obama when he ran for the Presidency. Money in education is clearly important. No denying that at all. But we've heard for a long time that we need to spend more money, and we do, and the results often don't change. If the system isn't working well more money alone isn't going to fix it. (the same principle applies in business and sports)

Then stop bashing our education system. Coming from you right wingers.

The treatment of teachers is similar to the treatment of police officers.

Find extreme examples of behavior, claim they all are the problem, watch the low IQ freak out.

Generalizations of an entire group of people only works on the ignorant.

Sad, so many looking to defend the cops in Uvalde, because of politics. So many willing to use bad cops as an example of an entire profession.

So many willing to label all teachers as extreme, Marxist, or anti-American. While claiming if those same teachers were armed it would make schools better.

Both professions deserve our societies admiration and respect. Both are difficult jobs. Both are under attack because our politics are broken.

Cops and teachers are heroes. Yes, extremes exist, yes racism exists.

The vast majority of police officers are heroes, wanting to protect and serve, make a decent living, and go home after work to their families.

The vast majority of teachers love this country and their students. They would protect their students with their lives, they are selfless and love their kids/students.

Stop falling for the hate-filled generalizations. Work to fix the problems without demonizing an entire profession.

I've always been of the opinion, and I sort of expressed it earlier in this thread, that the education problem is not with the system or the teachers, it's with many of the little assholes and their dumbass idiot parents.

As the old computer programmer adage says.... "Garbage in, garbage out".

Kids just keep on getting more and more negative influence from modern culture and the entertainment industry. They then bring their shit personas to school with them where the spend six hours per day having to be baby sat.

Society is going down the crapper.

The subtitle of The Coddling Of The American Mind is 'How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas Are Setting Up A Generation For Failure'. They hit a lot on social media which fits in with your point on negative influence of modern culture.

I don't profess to be some educational guru and this is not my field of work but to me we still have a top down education system that seemed to work well in the 20th century but is not doing all it can to keep up well with 21st century changes. (yes there is some generalization there because clearly there are excellent schools in America but I'm speaking more on the whole).

As the birthrate has declined in all developed nations the biggest decline is among the upper and middle classes leaving a larger percentage of school children coming from lower classes with lower educational levels and more single-parent families.

And our duty as a nation is to educate every child.

.

you say that like its a bad thing.......under the voucher system charter schools suck the resources away from public schools and use them to give kids the education that their parents paid taxes to get but didn't get from the incompetent public schools........

you are right.....only us rwnj assholes realize that's a legitimate use of tax dollars.......the rest of you are too stupid to realize it.....
the good news is that charter schools will be hiring teachers.......the bad news is, they only want the good ones.....

Charter schools are owned by greedy money grabbers whose primary interest is in raking in money by making chumps out of low-foreheads like you.

Then when they fail and go out of business, all the taxpayers' money that was dumped into them goes with them.

It's low educated shitbags like you whose ignorant, obnoxious spawns fuck up the learning environment in public schools to begin with. No wonder shit like you love charter schools. Your fat, brainless offspring can't cut it in public schools, so charter schools are a last resort.

Fortunately for you, they don't give a shit how unteachable your precious turds are as long as the state pays out good money to any shitty school that'll take them in and baby sit them for you.

Postmodern is a good example of someone who learned nothing in school.

He was probably a 16 year old, 8th grade dropout though he was never really there from a much earlier age.

One of those space-wasting pieces of trash the school was happy to finally be rid of.

Teachers have some measure of education and are thus appalled and discouraged at how incredibly fucking stupid most Americans-- obviously to them-- are.
