"US Teachers Have Had It"

Do you believe that if salaries were higher the teaching profession would be flooded? With teachers who were going to remain in the profession 30
.. 35 ..40+ years?

I see no reason why teaching is the only job exempt from principles of capitalism.

Yes, I honestly believe capitalist forces really exist. If you underpay a profession, you will have trouble filling jobs in that profession.
I don't recall a shortage of teachers in the past... Most people don't go into teaching to get rich though higher salaries would have been nice... Higher salaries aren't going to help right now...

I did not say that. I was agreeing that it is a factor.
Obviously salary is a factor my reply was to Walt's remarks.... But no amount of pay increases going to make a difference if many other factors don't change. Our high school was 15 teachers this year which is almost done heard of it wasn't because of salary...

Okay. Money means nothing in a capitalist economy. Very convincing.

We have had a teacher shortage for a few decades. Back when women had few options, it was not that bad, but women can do whatever they want now.

Higher salaries would not make teachers rich, but would give them a living wage. Giving teachers a living wage would greatly help in teacher retention.

There have always been plenty of teachers... What's been difficult the last few decades is encouraging them to stay... When did women have few options? Lol... I believe you're very confused about why people go into teaching... And what's involved...Teachers don't quit teaching because they aren't making "a living wage"
... And if they do they shouldn't have been teaching to begin with..
Teachers just want to be able to teach... When that begins to happen again there won't be a teacher shortage anymore..

When did women have few options? Lol...

Women used to have few options. If they were educated, they could become teachers, secretaries, or nurses. America could underpay those professions, knowing that we would still get the best from 50% of the population. Now women can become doctors, so no longer need to take a lower paying job as a nurse.

If you do not know this already, you are truly lost, and should not be listened to on the subject anymore.

And when was this that women could only be teachers, secretaries, or nurses? The rest of your post is simply priceless...I only replied so that it would be quoted...;)
