Ex-Watergate Prosecutor Says Georgia Probe Is The One That Could 'Send Trump To Jail'

There is the weight of evidence a jury would have to consider. Still, I agree with you in general that a billion dollars buys a lot of Justice so I suspect Trump will walk on everything.

OTOH, those who helped or supported him will not be so lucky. LOL

I didn't say a billion dollars buys a lot of justice (I think that was you ). I don't believe most political or court decisions are "bought"--I'm not that cynical. If that represents our system I don't know why we are trying to save it. Obviously, good lawyers are important but I think the anti-Trump people are just being overly optimistic about attempts to indict or convict him since I'm not convinced he actually broke any of the laws they are referring to. A person has to meet all elements of the law and many of his actions/words are too vague to fit---especially the treason accusations.

I'm sure none of it would have happened without his accusations about voter fraud, but proving he is responsible for the violence does not fit any of the laws--only a desire go get him.

"Can you believe?" is not an admission. To him it could be "evidence", "See? This guy is an idiot! I didn't lose to him! Who could believe that? Can you believe that I lost to him?" Something like that.

He lost to Brandon. I'm not saying what he is... I'm just saying hearing him surprised that folks would "believe he lost to that guy" is not an admission he believes anything other than what he says.

Now if he said, "I know I lost to Brandon" we'd have something.

Trump has already said that he lost the election. Do I need to post it once again?

A decent defense attorney just claims Trump was asking Brad Raffensperger to find "legal" votes and not anything unlawful. The ex-Watergate prosecutor was just sounding off. I bet Trump is not indicted much less acquitted.

The 14th Amendment cannot be used to disqualify him.

The best we can hope for is that this discredits him enough so that he chooses not to run again; although, those who are won't vote for him again have already made that decision--the Jan 6 committee probably will not change anybody's mind.

Of course you are unable to name this defense lawyer, or post his exact comments. We are supposed to believe this?

I meant any decent defense lawyer. My point was even I can see the loophole in the statement "find me..." votes. Where is evidence he meant do something illegal? I'm sure he didn't care whether it was legal or not, but that is insufficient in a criminal prosecution.

Of course you can find loopholes, thats what good trump people do. BUT, you are not an attorney, nor do you know or understand the laws that apply. The smart money is on an indictment in Georgia.

Close enough. I never claimed to be a lawyer. More of a statistician who goes by results. LOL

BTW, no one said the courts could be bought. Just that high priced lawyers can draw a lot of things out. In criminal cases, the defendant already has the edge. A Billion dollars would buy the lawyers to get off.

Consider OJ, Robert Blake and several other cases of rich people walking where poorer people go to prison. Trump will walk.

It doesn't matter how much money twump has. The government's resources are unlimited. If the DOJ decides to prosecute, they'll keep after him until he either caves or they settle.

Flip-flopping again about me being on ignore?

A billion dollars buys a lot of lawyers.

Asking to perform an illegal act is what Trump did. Trump fools think he is the messiah

Ex-Watergate Prosecutor Says Georgia Probe Is The One That Could 'Send Trump To Jail'

Nick Akerman said Trump has "zero defense" against a criminal probe into 2020 election meddling in Georgia.
Former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman said there is a rock-solid case against Donald Trump in the Georgia criminal probe into the former president’s demand that a state official*“find” him more votes*after the 2020 election.
During an interview on MSNBC’s “The Katie Phang Show” on Sunday, Akerman said Trump could likely face an indictment as a Fulton County grand jury investigates his attempt to steal the vote in Georgia.*
In a recorded call from Trump to Georgia Secretary of State*Brad Raffensperger*ahead of the official 2020 vote certification, Trump told the election official to “find” the 11,780 votes needed to reverse his loss to Joe Biden in the state.*
Akerman, who served as an assistant special prosecutor during the Watergate scandal that led to the resignation of former President Richard Nixon, said he believed that tape would be enough to lead to a possible conviction.
“If you are asking which of the cases right now, which one is going to send Donald Trump to prison, that is the case,” he said. “There is a really neat three-year felony in Georgia, that Donald Trump has violated. Prosecutors love tape-recorded evidence because you cannot cross-examine it”
“What is significant with those tapes is that when you put it in context of all of the evidence that the January 6 committee has uncovered — you put that together, Donald Trump has zero defense in Georgia,” he added.
“If I had to put my money on one prosecution that’s going to go forward here that will send Donald Trump to jail — it’s Georgia.”
Trump may have violated several federal laws in his call with Raffensperger. Georgia state law also makes it a crime to willfully tamper with “any electors list, voter’s certificate, numbered list of voters, ballot box, voting machine, direct recording electronic (DRE) equipment, or tabulating machine” or to solicit another person to commit such a felony, punishable by a sentence of up to three years in prison.

THAT, AND "RUSSIAN COLLUSION!!!

Who says he even has a billion? I haven't seen his financials, have you? And even if he does, all the US needs to do is sell more bonds. We just raised the rate of return to they're a good investment now.
