we are paying at an 8:1 ratio. $54 billion is more then it takes to fund the US Marine Corps

One country that was in the EU got the chance of leaving, and left. That was the UK, of course. Ex-PM Cameron has been kicking himself ever since.

As for the rest, their rulers have never risked asking them. Obviously being in the ever-closer EU is more important than what the people may want. :rolleyes:

what the hell do I care about NATO expansion? that odious bent got us to where we are in trms of threatening Russian security (at least perceived)
The USA is paying 8x the amount of money then the entire NATO club for the Ukraine war
and it makes absolutely no difference to US security whatever happens to Ukraine
as Russia would never go up against Finland or an NATO country

Ukraine is a different animal then the rest of eastern Europe for Russia
I'm not justifying the invasion but Putin made it clear thru his attempt to negotiate with Biden over an armed defacto NATO state of Ukraine is an existential threat, but we laughed it off

There are long range artillery in Ukraine that can reach into Russia
Finland or Sweden dont have that strategic liability

And being an America First the last fucking thing I want is to get into some eastern European land war with Russia
But the USA IS at war with Russia

and using that war to a defacto "degrading" - which is a proxy war with Russia
