Supreme Court takes up case of a coach and his prayers on 50-yard line

This case involves a bit more than some kid making the sign of the cross prior to a foul shot

"Kennedy began giving motivational speeches that included prayer and religious content. Kennedy alleged that he never required or asked any student to pray or participate in any religious activity. School principal John Polm later testified that a parent complained about the prayers, stating that his son felt compelled to participate or risk losing playing time during games (https://ballotpedia.org/Kennedy_v._Bremerton_School_District)
This.

Not unlike DeSantis bullying the students at his media event because they were wearing masks.

Many kids are taught to respect adults, whether they are right or wrong.

When I was public school student, decades ago, we were required to stand up for 'prayer' each morning at homeroom. It went from being called prayer, to silent meditation, to silent time....

Rightfully eliminated as a religious ritual.
Even in NYC schools in the 60's we never had prayer. (that I can remember) We were forced to recite the Pledge, and sing God Bless America

Public school teachers prayed with us and nobody complained. It was already banned, but none of us students cared, fuck the banning bastards. We actually loved it, tbh.

Yeah, kids from all over the city were in that classroom

Everyone was Americans though, so that was OK. It was the gifted program. In the AM I'd catch the bus and we'd ride for like an hour and a half picking up kids from all over the city. There were black gifted students, yes.

It was the bus ride from hell.

Probably in a ratio right around what the black population in America is.

Never let these racists tell you that black people can't be smart. I for one, know better.

Bobby Bowden prayed with his team all the time. They won a lot, too.

The next one that calls me racist, or white supremacist, can go fuck themselves with a cactus. Thanks to my Alabama friend SFC.

I guarantee you leftist pieces of shit would not last 30 minutes in Allapattah or Brownsville. I could walk around there like I owned it. That's because I know how to do things.
LOL.

Sunday drinking again?

maybe i heard the same thing about abortion, Afghan and Ukraine and gawd knows what else

My personal opinion is the economy cuts thru all that - people are HURTING and they are pissed
Thing like Diz.CRT drive Republicans as well..

Still i think more then ever "it's the economy stupid" is the mantra in play

As I noted, abortion could be one, along with guns, not saying it would energize everyone, but it would have an effect on the Democrat base, especially the younger first time voters who were so supportive of Biden in the last election

The economy will be the largest issue, always is, and demographically plus historically, the Democrats aren't going to do well, but the Senate is still a toss up, and anything effecting turn out could be a big player

Nobody is stopping players and coaches from praying. They can pray their asses off hours before the game. Stopping the game to have prayers is wrong. There are lots of people there who are atheists or have other religious affiliations. It would be fairminded to allow all religions an equal opportunity to pray before the game.
The praying at games is a show. They want to show how religious they are in public. Look at me pray that my team busts the other one up. Aren't I holy?
Pray at home and play the damn game.
