As about 5 million Ukrainian refugees walk over the border into Poland, and are welcomed with almost no restrictions, it is bizarre to hear the UK complain about being "flooded" with a few hundred refugees.

Maybe you ought to ask why the Danish want to do the same thing, Salty? They don't want any more Muslims who pointblank refuse to integrate or even learn Danish. Anyway as usual you can't stop bullshitting, it's a few hundred a day and many times that in a year.

As 5 million and counting people flee Putin's invasion of Ukraine, the EU opens its doors to Ukrainians. Anyone from Ukraine can enter the EU without a visa. They get immediate residency papers, which includes immediate access to free healthcare, education, and welfare money. They get housing when it becomes available, which is as quickly as possible. There are Polish cities that have more than doubled their population in under a month, so housing is difficult. Ukrainians can apply for a job anywhere in the EU within minutes of crossing the border. I am not exaggerating, usually the employment status is updated in 5 minutes, but sometimes it takes 10 minutes.

If they want to go to Spain, they can buy a train ticket, and just go. It is illegal to refuse to rent an apartment to them, or refuse them a job, just because they are Ukrainian. The Spanish Government will pay them unemployment/welfare payments from the day they arrive, and try to help them find a job.

There has not been this many refugees moving through Europe since right after WWII. This is a huge movement of people. Some have relatives in, or connections to the UK, but are mostly being ignored by the UK. The UK has been slow and bureaucratic, where the EU has been agile.
 
That is the story for Ukrainians. There is another story. Over a million people are fleeing Russia, with many million more trying. Russians are less wanted, and do not get any of the perks automatically.

But even they are more accepted in the EU than in the UK or USA. The EU has proven very agile.

The first Russian refugees have proven well educated, and relatively well off. They are an interesting bunch.
 
But do not forget what this thread is about. As millions of people flee in all directions, the UK is talking about sending a few hundred refugees to Rwanda. It is just talk, nothing will come of it. And, it is only a few hundred refugees. Even if they tried, they would have to give the refugees the right to return to France, which they would all take.

So to recap: it will never happen. If it did happen, it would be only for a few refugees, not even one in ten thousand. And even if it did happen to them, none would agree, so it would not happen.

It is all a distraction from the pathetic response by the UK to the huge refugee crisis that the EU has handled so well. The EU is beginning to realize they benefitted from Brexit.

The EU didn't handle it ffs, the border states to Ukraine did, can you ever stop lying? The whole point of using Rwanda is to send a strong message to would be migrants, you fucking know that well enough but just can't stop bullshitting.
