When the charges are made and the evidence presented in public, the Trump cabal will pay a terrible price for trying to overthrow the government. If Trump raped their mother in front of rightys, they would blame Pelosi.

That ignores the second point made in the comment you quoted. If the articles are found to be accurate but not worthy of removal it means the President is found to be "not guilty" of an offense deserving removal. Re Nixon again, he and everyone else believed he would be found guilty of alleged offenses deserving removal from office. The term you quoted, "Fitness for office" is a Senate trial equivalent as "not guilty" in a criminal case.

Senate votes to remove or not remove from office. No reason has to be given.

Some GOP Senators said that the offenses could be true but do not merit removal from office. They can hold that opinion.

Just as a jury votes to convict or acquit with no reason required to be given. On a charge such as insurrection against The United States jurors could hold the opinion that the specific alleged conduct was true beyond reasonable doubt but came short of insurrection.

Impeachment is really like a vote of no confidence. Just today, the prime minister of Pakistan lost a vote of confidence and a new prime minister was a appointed.

Similar but different. A "vote of no confidence" is an exercise in political pressure, pressure that can be irresistible. Impeachment and removal are exercises under law.

Well, a Senate conviction in an impeachment trial is different from a criminal court conviction. Objectively impartial jurors are not only not required they are impossible to obtain, there are no rules of evidence, no standard of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, no possible loss of liberty or financial penalty other than that from getting kicked out of office, but The Constitution itself cloaks impeachment in criminal terms and leaves an impeached President vulnerable to indictment for the same conduct, if criminal, once removed.

Yes, the Const. talking about "high crimes...." is very confusing. If the DOJ will not indict a President, how can there be a crime?

I just said how. If the conduct is a crime under the law it's a crime committed by the President who is specially protected only by the policy of the Justice Department for being prosecuted while in office.
