Do they not teach Russian history to Russian kids? Don't they remember how neither Napoleon nor Hitler could take Russia, because people will die rather than surrender their homeland? What makes them believe that Ukrainians are any different?

My guess is that Putin expected a cakewalk. He didn't get it and now he's trying to save face with a victory by any means possible before his oligarch mafioso whack him.

Putin has the power to destroy Ukraine. We hope he does not use it. Other "buffer' states are watching in horror. I saw an interview with Latvia's ex-prez saying they should join Ukraine and allow the west to help them through their borders. If Putin succeeds, they fear they may be next. They are not buying that Nazification theme.

MAGAs were practically giddy with excitement at the prospect of the imminent fall of Kyiv in March 2022.


The battle of Kyiv was decisively won by Ukranians, and now Ukraine is too heavily armed and has long term security guarantees from NATO for Putin to ever realistically be able to conquer Ukraine and take Kyiv.
