Time is friggin' money. For example, if you were a truck driver and knew you could leave Phoenix loaded for LA at 6 am, arrive at a destination in the LA area, unload and load, then return to Phoenix at 6 pm and then go home is that preferable to you loading and leaving Phoenix at 6 am, arriving in LA in the midafternoon, having to pay to stay the night in a hotel, then return with a load the next day for less pay would you accept having to drive 45 mph?

Would the shipper be willing to take the hit for the longer shipping time and higher costs?

Lower highway speeds raise the cost of anything that is shipped by truck. For people it's the same way. If you decide to drive somewhere for vacation to have the convenience of a car, and the lower highway speed means your only alternative to that is to fly and then rent a car at more expense do you still choose that vacation plan?

Booze and smoking is mostly people harming themselves and i don't care. Speeders OTOH kill other people.

No one is talking about making life completely safe, you lying psychopath. But the annual highway death toll could easily be reduced from the present 40,000 to under 1,000 and SAVE money in the process. But you psychopaths say no way. You belong in a cage.

Another way to save gas is to suspend the drivers licenses of criminal drivers like speeders and red light runners and DWIs and DTIs. They are criminals and they asked for it.
 
All these states that gave drivers licenses to illegal aliens are to blame also. Letting these criminals live here is bad enough but letting them drive ???!!!!
