Why Russia is having a difficult time in Ukraine, aka Where's the air force?

planes are expensive, vlad wants to harvest them.

but he really did need to have special forces take out air defense command first ands no idea why that didnt happen.

Ukrainian resistance was stronger than Putin believed. Russian troops are demoralized and questioning why they are attacking their Ukrainian brothers.

your bizarre fixation on Trump is not understandable.......particularly since the "evidence" for your claims have all been tracked to Hilliary's 2016 presidential campaign........why don't you instead look at Biden sitting back and watching the invasion unfold without doing anything......

Could it possibly be that the Russians have a different doctrine when it comes to the use of their air force than Western nations do?

Air superiority is both an offensive and defensive strategy. No one wants to be bombed by their opponent.

A guerrilla war with Ukrainians will be worse than Afghanistan, because they will be better re-enforced.

Agreed. Supplies from friendly nations adjacent to Ukraine would be easily accomplished than trying to fly or ship supplies to Afghanistan.

Vastly outmatched by Russia's military, in terms of raw numbers and firepower, Ukraine's own air force is still flying and its air defenses are still deemed to be viable - a fact that is baffling military experts.

After the opening salvos of the war on Feb. 24, analysts expected the Russian military to try to immediately destroy Ukraine's air force and air defenses.

That would have been "the logical and widely anticipated next step, as seen in almost every military conflict since 1938," wrote the RUSI think-tank in London, in an article called "The Mysterious Case of the Missing Russian Air Force."

Destroying the planes usually means destroying airports and runways as well. They made need those later to deliver supplies and personnel quickly.

The Thai government’s decision to declare the country neutral in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has drawn ire among citizens and expatriates alike.

After a cabinet meeting on March 1 following a call by some two dozen Thailand-based ambassadors to condemn Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, a former army chief, reportedly said at the meeting that Thailand would need to exercise caution so as not to damage its long-standing relations with Russia.

“We need to be composed and make decisions carefully. Thailand must maintain a neutral stance,” Prayut was quoted as saying by a source who was present at the meeting

Well color us shocked. Not. lol

The Russians can target the aircraft on the ramp and avoid hitting the runway. It appears the Ukrainian air defense capability is stronger than the Russians believed.

King Rama-Lama-Ding-Dong is a pedophiliac hedonist. He's afraid of China. He might be the last King of Thailand.

Russian tourists, probably sex parties, were Thailand's #1 tourist industry.

Ukraine invasion: crashing Russian rouble, sanctions deal blow to Thailand bid to revive tourism
  • Money-transfer difficulties and flight cancellations following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine have shaken Thai tour operators
  • Russians were the largest group of visitors to the kingdom in January and some 1.5 million of them came in 2019 and spent US$3.3 billion
The exclusion of many Russian banks from the Swift payments network has resulted in tour operators running into problems when making transfers, according to Charintip Tiyaphorn, co-owner of Pimalai Resort & Spa in Phuket. Some flights have been cancelled following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and many European airlines are re-routing to get to Southeast Asia, she said.
Russians were the largest group of travellers to Thailand in January and top applicants for new visas under a quarantine-free entry programme relaunched last month. About 1.5 million Russians visited in pre-pandemic 2019 and spent US$3.3 billion, the third-highest source of tourism revenue for the country, according to official data.

Ah, so that explains (besides his obviously-dwindling mental and moral facilities) why Tommy boy enjoys "smoking" Putin's "cigar."

They might be prioritizing the fuel and food trucks. Tanks are dangerous and difficult to attack but are effectively neutralized if out of gas. Hunger is demoralizing to soldiers.

A Javelin has a range of 1.6 miles. Newer versions have a 2.5 mile range. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FGM-148_Javelin

I mentioned that in another thread. Hitting fuel and supply trucks first would cripple the whole convoy.
Funny how the news only shows what the Russians are hitting. Showing how hard the Ukrainians are
resisting must be bad publicity. Sure wouldn't want to give the Ukrainians something to raise their spirits

They could but in real life the runways usually end up damaged as well.

It depends upon the competency of the Russian Army...which isn't very impressive at the moment.

Also, planes only need to be damaged, not destroyed, to take them out of action. Note that most of their aircraft are 1) Russian...and the Russians aren't selling them parts and 2) many are mothballed.

Since 1991's Ukrainian independence the Air Force has suffered from chronic underinvestment, leading to the bulk of its inventory becoming mothballed or otherwise becoming inoperable.[7]

The structural reorganization of the Air Force had set as goals for itself the sufficient reduction in the total number of command and control levels, and increasing the efficiency of command and control processes. The reorganization of command and control elements of the air force is still underway. The first step of this organization was to transition from the existing air commands to the Command and Control and warning center systems.

Which explains why the convoy is stalled.

Not funny or strange; the Russian targets are cities and civilians. Reporters are mainly in the cities, not accompanying a Ukrainian Javelin team to blow up a fuel truck.

There's also the aspect of not revealing Ukrainian positions like Geraldo Rivera.

Another reason they might not be using aircraft to their advantage is fearing that they'll be shot down. Like two were the other day.

I don't know what news you watch (but we can guess lol), but NBC Nightly News has been showing destroyed Russian equipment, as well as prisoners taken. They appear to be giving equal time to both sides in the conflict as far as showing damage and casualties.

I hope we give them some attack drones too.

Nato is targeting Russian planes for Ukraine, let's not forget that. But yes, the "experts" cant even yet figure out what Xi and Putin are doing.

they know china and russia are cooperating.

they're on their side, lying to the american people.

but of course, this tactic will fail.

jesus hates the new world order.

You're guess would be wrong. I rarely watch the news. The GF turns off the Nightly News after the local news goes off.
