This Kind of Courage

Republicans involved in the impeachment inquiry have repeatedly touted the Trump administration's sale of anti-tank missiles to Ukraine as evidence the president is supportive of the country against Russian aggression, but they've left out key details in the process.

Under the rules of the sale, the Javelin missiles have to be stored in western Ukraine, which is far from the frontlines of the ongoing conflict in the eastern part of the country (the Donbas region) against pro-Russia separatists.

In short, the Javelins were essentially provided to Ukraine under the condition that they not be used in the conflict zone.

Well, it beats Germany holding their weapons up months, amirite?

Ukraine is overrun by this Sunday AM I bet. If not, more power to them!

That would be the 27th of February.

I want an actual deterrence to crime. Broken Windows theory works, while non-prosecution and Defund lead to more carnage.

Also, the reason why China has so many prisoners is because totalitarianism is oppressive. America is libertine, and our society encourages people to break rules and standards of decency.

Back when the Republicans were sane, they came upon the idea that the best way to break up communist aggression was to do it from the inside through free trade. Nixon goes to China. We did it with the Russians too. Both are running into problems from the inside due to their populations tasting free trade.

At the moment, Russia has a nutjob in charge. How long can he go before the Russians take him out? Xi is still sane enough to know there are limits, but he's subject to human frailty too. How long before absolute power corrupts absolutely in both countries?

Do you Putin's typically high approval will wane much over these minor incursions into Ukraine? Winnie the Pooh has to worry that the many social-demographic and economic problems facing the PRC will upend the CCP, otherwise he's more untouchable than Putin.

Nixon's Cold War strategy toward China was a brilliant move with obvious long-term consequences, but, I doubt anyone would be willing to cozy up to Putin in order to undermine the PRC (or that it could work).

It's a full scale invasion of Ukraine. I doubt it but time will tell. Putin threatening Thermonuclear War twice in one week is the act of a desperate man. If we're all dead or dying of radiation poison soon, you'll know he was fucking nuts.

At least China is sane compared to Putin himself.

It might be the Parkinson's talking.

Zelensky: I don’t need a ride.

Ted Cruz: Can you guys drop me off in Cancun?

We are seeing the contrast between the Ukrainians and those who support them and the disgusting reaction of the Trumptards and the GOP. They look so small and pathetic now. The mask is off.

 :rofl2:

Even Ted knows he won't survive a re-election. He's just cashing in as many chips as possible before he signs up to be some corporation's lapdog if not a Grand Wizard for the Party of Trump.

Not a medical guy, just some expertise in identifying problems. Putin's actions are irrational. There's no positive endgame here.

He's been in power for as long as I've been following politics. My guess is he's just trying to unease everyone, and he's frustrated that the invasion hasn't gone as well as he planned.
