Costco Pulls "Lil Monkey" Doll Off Shelves

I keep getting pictures of a Native American doll, complete with its own whiskey bottle... Call it the "lil Savage"...

I just can't get over the fact that somebody would manufacture the doll and then another thought it would be a good addition to store shelves...

I don't see anything wrong with the doll, the name is a little strange but to say it's racist is what I don't get..

How do you not get it? It is one of the things that racists call black people, to label a little black doll with the name is quite racist.

Thank you for taking the time to explain it to her. I would rather just insult her, much more fun and she still won't get it! i have this deep feeling she is like that.

You literally don't get it?

Do you not live in an area in which racial slurs are regularly employed? I do. Labelling a black doll "lil' monkey" is a bizarre marketing backfire of epic proportions.

I was comparing it to the i.beat.blaxx, which was a black colored MP3 player and the most unfortunately named product I've ever heard of.

I am sure they didn't mean to be racist. But for all the engineers on the design team to have such a huge brain fart... there must really be something wrong with their operation for this to never have been brought up. It's an unfortunate mistake of epic proportions, but meme's and tutu's pretending to not see it is annoying.

I have a deep feeling you are a very unhappy person and very shallow, I feel sorry for you actually..

no I'm sorry I don't see it...I don't equate black people with monkey's..
and you will never get rid of racial slurs against any peoples in a society, unless it is some make believe utopia..that is why I don't get so upset over a doll.

I know you don't equate black people with monkey's, meme. But it's a commonly used racial slur, at least where I live.

Meme, I don't think they intentionally meant to be racist. As I've said before, it was an unfortunate mistake, and I won't speculate on how it came to pass because I wasn't there.

I'll certainly agree with you here dear..

I'm not speaking for meme, but I've never been around that fucking crap before and I have black friends. That's how!!!!

I comprehend that.

Some areas use different terms as racial slurs. "Monkey" isn't one you'll hear in Colorado, in fact you won't hear many at all here. This was a term I heard while visiting Illinois when I was a child. My mother's family lived there, and Rockford was incredibly racist. The first open racism that I ever encountered was in Rockford.
