Odd. Me and my mom went shopping. No shortage.

With the winter storms, there was panic buying in some areas. But if you did not have a winter storm in your area, or did not have panic buying, you are fine.

Remember, food does not come from China.

The only item at my store that seems to have selection that is somewhat limited is cat food.
I'm seeing wet cat food disappearing lately. China almost killed our pets years ago with melamine in the pet food. I'm guessing the pet food shortage is a China thing?

Our meat department still runs weekly sales, and I stock up on the things we eat to stuff the freezer. Roaster chickens were $1.49/lb this week. I haven't suffered the effects of this inflation with respect to food yet. I do see that some sale items are out of stock for a day or two due to people like myself who are hording meat.

Generally we have no problems with shortages, and we're hardly a populated area. Maybe that's a good thing? One might think that Small Town USA would see worse shortages due to distribution.

LOL. You should see it now. Quite a few empty shelves. Somebody did a good job shoring that up so that Christmas didn't suck for everybody who doesn't shop in October, but right now they aren't doing so well. It seems that folks that live by the ports have full shelves, folks that live in "flyover" country, not so much. This seems to be most likely due to the shortage of truck drivers.
You're probably correct. The coasts are better off than the vast Red wasteland.

I guess they can all eat corn and soybeans?

Yesterday, I saw a few blanks shelves in the store.

I mean, like less than one percent of the store's shelf capacity.

But conservatives promised me a massive economic depression if Biden were allowed to be inaugurated, not just reduced choices of peanut butter.

I went to Walmart yesterday. Plenty of food and supplies, but selections were skewed. No red bell peppers, just yellow and some softening orange ones. No wheat crackers, but plenty of whole grain and regular. There were gaps of empty shelves in almost every section.
I don't buy any food at Walmart. Nobody should.

You must have other avenues for food?

I don't think I've had a trip to the grocery store in the last year that I didn't have at least one thing on my list that simply wasn't there........recently it's been Mott's Chunky Applesauce......haven't been able to buy it in months......

I can't remember the last time I went to the super market and found every single item on my list.
It's probably been a couple of years.

And the price of beef is astronomical.

One stop shopping. Lowes Market has good sales on beef and pork.

Why do you hate Walmart? What other US businesses do you hate/boycott?

I'm surprised you haven't noticed your groceries are costing you 7% more.......

Intelligent people understand this is a consequence of the pandemic. Are you saying it would have been better had Trump been reelected?

I don't hate Walmart, nor do I boycott them. I just don't buy food there. Natural peanut butter sometimes because the price is good, but their meat/produce is sub par.

As you described in your original post.

My wife is currently at Kroger, I should have a report when she gets back. WDOT said way back in OCT that they dont have enough staff this year, that they will do their best, but their best just had the mountain passes closed for many days, which likely is a problem for the grocery stores. .

When one is just swiping that EBT card what do they care?

It always upsets me when I see a mother with screeching kids on a cart full of shit, playing games on tablets, while the mother bitches about something on phone then she pays for shit with EBT, then gets in a fancy car and drives away.

Those people are a drain on our society.

Produce is nicely priced at Walmart here but meat is a bit overpriced.
