And many people watch sports without worshing any player or team. And there are unfortunately too many kids who grow up without close families or role models in their communities and if looking up to an athlete who came up through similar disadvantaged circumstances and became a success helps a young child stay positive then that's a great thing.

I know but he likes golf. The most elitist pussy game (I can't honestly call it a sport) there is. Hell even Tennis, which is almost as boring to watch, is more sporting than golf.

What I like is that the participants are normal guys that honed themselves into true athletes, unlike pro basketball and football which are populated mainly by what can be described as genetic mutants. *shrug*

Actually, that's not true. If anything guy's like Greg Lemond with a 92/mg/kg VO2 Max and Lance Armstrong and his 6 mg/dl lactic acid threshold are genetic freaks. Even at the Elite profesional level an athlete with a VO2 max in the 90's is a one in a million athlete. In pro cycling only 3 athletes have ever tested a VO2 max over 88. LeMond, Hinault and Indurain. The greatest cyclest ever Eddy Merykx probably was in that range but never had his VO2 max tested. You'll probably only see a handfull of athletes like that in your life time.

That's his point silly. Colonials in North America fought for both sides in the 7 years war. This was a war between Britain and France and not between France and American colonialist. Where did you ever get such an idea?

The biography of Ben Franklin. The American colonists had a huge problem with attacks from the French from the frontier, and their British King refused to provide adequate protection. *shrug*
