That's our difference. My position was to STAY as the better option. LEAVING (whether Trump or Biden) was the wrong decision.

actually we agree: but only if would could just stay at Bagram -nowhere else,and im not sure that would be doable.... but it think it would.

Bagram would have given us real counter-terrorism platform..not "over the horizon" signature strike murders

If you know that, then please tell me if they identified themselves to the Taiwanese? Do you take the same attitude to the Chinese illegally occupying the Spratly and Parcel islands?

Sometimes you have to go out of the Safe Zone. The Afghans were doing most of the fighting while NATO troops were more in a back-up role. Maybe it would have taken 10,000 troops?
Shame to leave after 20 years, thousands of US casualties, and a trillion dollars.
I'm not supporting 'Retreat' here. That's NOT my position.

the ANAF was capable -but they must have been backed up with logistics, and maintenance
We also were their paymasters -which is a big deal because the Afghans are corrupt

This was the safe position. on a chess board it's called zugzwang:
a player is said to be "in zugzwang" when any possible move will worsen their position.

Your Head and your Heart might say STAY, but if your Wallet says 'Nope', the Decision is made. Germany, South Korea and Japan were certainly nation built in the past, how can you say otherwise? As for the rest, pure bullshit. The 7th Fleet is based in Yokosuka ffs, didn't you know that? Xi would love to take over Taiwan and then Korea, North and South, he'd then have total control over the electronics sector.
