Afghanistan was going to fall even if Trump had the balls to do it or Obama before him. Kudos to Biden for deciding to amputate instead of bleeding to death trying to save the limb. The fuckup came in 2003 and, in order to avoid "letting Americans die in vain", our nation chose to keep letting more do the same.

Sorry, man, but I see no favorable endgame per the Constitution for us in Afghanistan. If the Afghans can't take care of themselves, there's no reason for us to hang around.

OTOH, I'd be wary of competing interests seeking to take advantage of the situation.

It's up to the Afghan people, not us. There are other problems the US should be focused such as China's aggression in the South Sea.

I agree that the actual exit strategy seems fucked up, but what was the endgame in Afghanistan after Bush attacked Iraq? "To free those people"?

The Constitution limits the powers of the Federal government. What is the compelling interest in Afghanistan for "We, the People"?

Sorry, man, but IMHO, when the military mission ended, so did America's direct interests. I'd support a global coalition seeking to resolve the issues there if it affects American interests, but killing more Americans to justify "so others didn't die in vain" is a silly reason for sticking around.

After we found out Bin Laden was not in Afghanistan we should have been the hell out. The Soviet Union learned that long before us. Bush got us there, no doubt about that. Every President since him kept us there. After all this time one would think any politician would have listened to their military advisors as to the best way to accomplish the pull out.

The endgame was to shift the focus away from the Saudis. And corporations, contractors (*coughs*Halliburton*coughs*) and corrupt politicians saw this as a quick scheme to get rich in a hurry. So they weren't in any hurry to get out.

What country are you in APL? ??? There are millions upon millions of adults capable of working in this country that just flat out refuse to. Why? Because democrats are making it easier for them to sit home and collect than actually work to feed themselves.

You realize that collecting welfare is limited, right? It's under 2 years. And it isn't much. It's to aid those people with limited income or who were laid off.

In other words, it's a safety net. Just like the unemployment benefits.

Extended unemployment benefits and "covid" pay on top of that is not "limited". democrats are deliberately keeping people on government assistance for votes. There is no deny that. The worst part is those people do not have enough pride in themselves to go to work.
