FBI Knew Boulder, Colorado, Suspect Identity Prior to Shooting

The FBI knew in advance the Pulse Nightclub shooter (Omar Mateen) and were tipped off by the local sheriff.

But what did they "know" about them?

You say: The FBI knew in advance the Pulse Nightclub shooter (Omar Mateen) and were tipped off by the local sheriff.

OK, so what did the FBI "know in advance"?

What did the local sheriff tell them?

Did he tell them that this guy had an arsenal of weapons and never was put through a mental health examination?

Do you even know what was told to whom? Probably not.

Whoa so they knew "his identity".

OK, what does that have to do with him getting a gun?

The FBI knows everyone's identity because they can just bring you up on their computers.

So by "knowing his identity" they knew his name, where he lived, and where he worked.

But they didn't know if he was mentally ill, if he was radicalized, or if he was planning this; they wouldn't have known any of that because he didn't tell anyone, and didn't go to a doctor beforehand.

I never said it wasn't. What I said was that you were more likely than not to harm yourself or others with a gun than ever use the gun in self-defense.

According to the CDC, 35% of all gun deaths are either homicide or self-defense. So that leaves 65% for everything else.

They don't, but they're certainly going to look for it.

I have dogs too, but being a dog owner has opened my eyes as to how dogs are easily distracted because they're not smart animals.

Wait - so you do keep a loaded gun in your house. I don't think it matters if there's a round in the chamber or not.

What happens if the thief gets to your gun first?

Nothing says "freedom" like sleeping with a loaded weapon under your head because you're afraid of thieves.

A thief will look hard for my weapon, and I know exactly where it is!
My Dogs will let me know long before the intruder gets in, my dogs wake me when someone gets within 10 feet of my house

Right, but what happens if they find it, because 200,000 people just like you think you are hiding your weapons, but you're not.

What happens if they find your gun before you can get to it?

Dogs are not smart animals, and they can be easily tricked and distracted.

So what happens if the thief cases your joint, manages to incapacitate your dogs (by poisoning treats, or just gives them treats), and then steals your gun?

Because that scenario is more likely than the scenario of your dogs alerting you to an intruder, then you fumble in the dark with your weapon, before managing to (somehow) incapacitate the intruder.

it's best to have a gun in this scenario.

No it's not because that "intruder" could be a friend or relative that you've accidentally mistook for an intruder, and shot them dead or wounded them.

Particularly if you are awaken from a deep sleep in the middle of the night by this, so your mental faculties aren't exactly there.

And if you've been drinking the evening before, or taken a prescription sleeping med, then your judgment is all cloudy.

Like I said, you are far more likely to harm yourself or others with a gun than you will ever use that gun in self-defense.

there are cases where guns successfully defend people, shitbrain. you're in a delusion born of cherry picking, denial, idiocy, and agenda.

Well, I'm not so sure about that because I've never seen those statistics...all I've seen is that accidental deaths from guns make up about 5-10% of gun deaths each year, so about 1,500-3,000 people die from gun accidents every year, and about a third of them are kids.

so you have no data on how often guns are used successfully in self defense.

No, you should STFU since you're the one pretending you use your gun for self-defense, but have not been able to provide any self-defense statistics.

you have no self defense statistics, and you're the one talking out your asshole.. I'm not pretending anything. I don't even own a gun.

you have no self defense statistics

Right, because they don't exist...because it's a load of horseshit.

The stats we do have tell us how the people died from guns.

Those stats show that you're far more likely to harm yourself or others than you'll ever use the gun in self defense.

In fact, you're most likely to blow your own brains out than you are ever to use the gun against a "bad guy".
