Not really worried, I have what I want and the ammo to run them for years, the government does not know what I have. and never will. and if made illegal I would never turn them in. I only concern myself for the Rights of those that have not had the chance to buy what they feel they want or need without undue government interference, I have pushed family and friends to do the same as soon as they can and most have, they see it coming, we have been there done that already. I am fine with back ground checks, and simple laws on ownership and carry licenses, and believe we need to uphold the laws we have, at least those laws here in Texas. Firearms are tools, nothing more, it is how some people use those tools that is the problem, I grew up in a time when people drove around with guns in their truck back window and they were safe. No one ever thought it would be a great idea to shoot up a school or shopping mall, something has changed it is not the firearms, meaning the problem is Us, so we need to fix Us.

it is not about who obeys gun laws. it is about what kind of gun, and how lethal, and how easy to use, and how quickly it can kill so many, when ANYBODY for any reason snaps and decides to take out a whole bunch of other people with them. try to imagine we are arguing about if howitzers should be legal to private citizens, and then see how stupid that is although VERY VERY FEW WOULD EVER USE THEM TO KILL A BUNCH OF OTHER PEOPLE-----BUT THEY COULD IF THEY HAD ONE AND WENT NUTS.

And no, not true at all, I think in order to stop out gun violence problem which is 95% an illegal handgun problem:


1. Legalize marijuana and most drugs
2. Release all non violent drug offenders and expunge their records.
3. Use money saved from not incarcerating people for drug programs, and trade school scholarships.
4. Offer 1 year no tax on new businesses in the worst areas
5. 6 month amesty and/or buy back of any illegal gun.
6. Increase penalties to mandatory additional 10 years for being in possession of an illegal gun. No parole, no plea bargaining.
7. Increase oenalties for dealers and sellers of strawman and other illegal purchases to 15 years, no parole no plea bargaining for each count.

actually, you are dead wrong. most people who were murdered knew their murderer- it was not connected to any other crime, or gang related activity....
crimes of passion, most of the time, and if a gun was not around, who knows if the murderer would have taken the time and effort to kill someone he knew in a more difficult, up close and personal way?

and we are just talking about murders--- what about all the accidental shootings of people and their family and friends? or how many use a gun for suicide, which makes it so much easier?

Agreed. A major tool that is lacking is providing assistance to those with mental health problems. It's one thing to say "Oh, you're mentally ill. You can't drive, vote or own a gun, fuck you." It's another thing to help the person to become a productive, sane and healthy citizen.

He used a 9mm handgun, don't know what brand or model so do not know the capacity but even a revolver can do the same and reloaded in near the same amount of time. No, it is All about the Person, this one is obviously disturbed and needed help before he did something like this, but that is a much more complicated issue to deal with and it is far easier to blame a tool and ban it. Then what are we going to do blame knives and swords next when that is their weapon of choice? Fix the Real Problem and it is going to take a lot of work.

No doubt. However, the initial and primary goal is to ensure one is not a danger to himself and others.

Nope. Just guns and rifles. Knives have other intended uses. Guns are designed for killing and that is what they do.

But killing what, you cannot be suggesting that we ban hunting rifles, shotguns, heck banning handguns would be near impossible, too many Liberals also own them.
