When a parent forces a child to face there own mistakes and learn from them do they hate the child?

They did a much better job than when they had hostages held in Lebanon, when the then government arranged to pay a ransom and the opposition party offered to pay a little more if they were held until after the general election was over.

And when a petulant child says, "I hate you!" regardless of the action of the parent it reminds me of the world around me giving me advice on how much I need introspection. Like a teen thinking they have all the answers are the people who point at others to express the need for introspection.

I like introspection, I practice it every evening and find that I fall short often of my goals for the day. It's part of my religion and part of my life. Without it excellence will never be obtained.

We could all learn from each other. All governments make mistakes. Too much introspection would be fruitless. You have a new president. He sees what needs to be done. On the foreign front he is doing more right than wrong (but not all right, by any means). When we learn to admit our failings and can be seen to be taking positive action to put them right we have earned respect. It is very hard to kill people you respect.

But none of that is going to change the generally accepted level of violence in your society. You must admit that you are an unnaturally violent society.
The only country I have visited with a similar level of intrinsic violence is the Philipines where notices at bar entrances used to request customers to leave firearms at the door and from where I had to make a mad dash to the airport a few years ago when the hotel in which I was staying became the centre of an attempted coup! Is that a comparison of which you are proud? The United States of America and The Philipines?

There were well over 1000 protest sites (some places estimate 2300, but so many different places announced sites it is difficult to determine), I'm estimating at an average of 900 per protest (some larger, some smaller). All it would take is about 1100 sites, there were more than that. And I'm shorting on the average turnout in CO, because I think some other places may have had less.

The "batshitcrazies" have been under the watchful eye of the "Homeland Security" since well before there was a "Homeland Security". And yes, many of the people who you try to call "batshitcrazies" were among the people who peacefully assembled on tax day.

As I said, watch the "batshitcrazies" but without introspection of your own, there will be no reason for them to come in from the "fringe" and you may push more people "out" there.

There were arround 100 from the accounts I saw.
