McConnell: Trump is responsible for inciting riot

IMO, history will show Trump is more a result of the times, something that has been growing for 40 years, rather than a "stable genius" who manipulated a stable nation into electing a demagogue.

In short, Trump is a result of national causal factors.

IMO, Trump is an Opportunist that took advantage of the current global situation. Mainly the destruction of the Middle Class in First World Countries.

I'm quite sure Trump neither knows what a coup is nor knows how to spell it. What I do know is that he spent a year priming his lobotomized army to do the dangerous work he knew he couldn't do himself. He intended to overturn the results of a valid election of the world's most enduring democracy in order to keep himself, personally, in power. Then the country bumpkins who support him attempted a coup on his behalf. Then the dickless senators who stand next to the bed because Trump likes when they watch him have sex with their wives and daughters said, "Well, Trump's gonna Trump. Silly guy. Let's all go home. Saturday is pot roast night."

Before you Segway’d into absurdities you were close to the mark: yes, Trump’s objective that day was to ‘over turn the election’ if ‘over turning the election’ meant giving state legislatures a chance to weed out illegal votes before having the EC vote.

But what happened that day? A bunch of idiots broke into the Capitol and the rest is history. Trump’s attempt at ‘over turning the election’ was derailed; it gave House Democrats yet another opportunity to indulge their favorite pastime and Trump may be mortally wounded, politically.

That doesn’t add up and everyone reading this knows it.

Hmmmm....when hunting a dangerous animal it's usually wise the animal doesn't know you're hunting it. Allowing Jake and the Ass Clowns be the face of Trump's Terrorists may lull the Proud Boys and Boogaloo Bois into complacency until they can be taken down.

I doubt we'll see a fuck up like Waco repeated. The FBI will take these guys individually for the most post. It's like stalking a specific deer and requires patience.

Right. But as for we regular people, I think we should forget the goofball horn guy and focus on the real problem -- those seditionists who still want to violently destroy the country and remake it to suit their agenda. Be cognizant of ppl you encounter in real life with similar viewpoints, and keep an eye on them. Be cognizant of them spreading their treason using social media, blogs, etc. Let them speak, but always keep an eye on them.

Yep, and one of them is the insidious nature of RW media. We all understand that there are a huge number of disenchanted (mostly white) middle- and lower-class mainly blue collar workers in this country who are unhappy about jobs, upward mobility, the American dream. RW media -- and politicians -- capitalize on this by showing them enemies to blame: The Democrats, China, globalization, etc. We would be much better off if we would explain that this is the nature of capitalism and a maturing economy. Then instead of assigning blame, we would instead fix it by offering the kind of education that would allow these guys to move into different career paths. Robotics have taken most manufacturing jobs; teach the willing how to maintain and use these tools. Health care is a growing field; offer education that doesn't require a four-year degree: occupational therapist, patient care tech, radiology tech, pharmacy tech, etc. Skilled trades are always looking for people. There is no reason why government and industry cannot team up to train and provide good paying jobs.

Fanning the flames of disenchantment is not helping these people, or the nation. It's only dividing us.

Even a career Republican politician, the GOP's elected national leader now, can openly state what you and other JPP Deplorables lack the integrity to admit:

Trump was responsible for inciting an insurrection.

Trump was derelict in trying to stop the violence.

And your Kraken horseshit was nothing but monumental lies.

Seems there were various actors ‘in the mix’.

Did you ever figure out what Trump had to gain from blowing up his own objective that day?

You just cling to the theory that it was all "darkies" wearing whiteface and trying to make Trump look bad. LOL

The media is there. Our nation has come a long ways since having a Town Crier. Now each of us can be a global crier on the Internet. The information overload has shocked too many people into being confused, disoriented and not knowing who to believe.

That's why critical thinking is necessary as a tool to separate facts from the tons of bullshit constantly being thrown at us.

Agreed 100% on your recommendation; as a nation we need to do a better job of educating citizens for a 21st Century economhy.

true......43 voted against it.......

Can't be a coup, dumbass. Trump is already out of office and not coming back anytime soon.

If the Proud Boys have anything to do with it, Trump will regret his actions on and around January 6th. Nobody likes a buddy fucker or a coward. With Trump, they have two for one.

Trump is most certainly an opportunist. He never created anything by himself. He just repackaged things other people made.

How is the Middle Class doing in other First World countries? I thought they were fine compared to Americans.

There weren't enough "illegal votes" to make any difference in the world, if there were any at all.

When people say, "It doesn't add up," I roll my eyes and let you go back to perfecting your tin foil hat.

The point was and remains that Trump tried to overturn the American democratic government; and people like you cheered him on. People like you attacked your own government. We don't get the country we want. We get the country we deserve. And this is it.

“There is no question that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day”.

But in his floor speech after the vote, McConnell endorsed the view that “President Trump is still liable for everything he did while he was in office.”

“He didn’t get away with anything, yet,” McConnell said, noting that “we have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil litigation. And former presidents are not immune from being [held] accountable by either one.”

Thousands of Trump's fans and supporters, all spun up by Trump and launched to attack the Capitol, have been backstabbed by Trump and are facing ruin and disgrace in court convictions, some with prison time. They should not be happy with Trump.
True, but we are still seeing some kind of Stockholm Syndrome in action here: even though Trump lost their party the House, Senate, and presidency, even though he has demonstrated time and again he is only in it for himself and will throw any Republican under the bus, his fan boys on JPP continue to grovel subserviently at his feet.

I’m waiting for someone to torch whoever it was that was responsible for lack of security on 1/6. Where is the Turtle’s outrage in that?

Every bit of this was easily preventable but it was almost as if it was allowed to happen.
You and every other conservative invested remarkable time and effort spreading the lie that conservative protesters are peaceful and orderly.

I imagine a lot of people in Congress, including all the Republican representatives, never expected Trump conservatives to smear shit on walls, drag police officers down stairs and beat them, and otherwise act like a pack of rabid animals.

First World Countries have High Wages and High Living Standards. Their Middle Class is facing the same problems the US Middle Class is facing: Automation, Outsourcing, Immigrant Labor.
EVERYONE can see the Problem. NO ONE has come up with a Solution. The Disparity between the 'Haves' and 'Nave Nots' is growing.

Trump was successful in his*'Border Wall' rhetoric to make the Working Class feel he was 'on their side'. Even though Trump hired Immigrants and had his Clothing Line made Overseas. :)

Europeans have 'imported' Middle East Labor, while the US 'imports' Latin American Labor. With worse results for Europe.
