McConnell: Trump is responsible for inciting riot

What worries me is that Trump's populist positions have been given mainstream attention and legitimacy among millions of otherwise politically neutral Americans.

Bingo.

Populist nationalism is ascendant. It doesn’t need Trump and there’s a good argument it would be better off without him. Democrat leaders and the Uni-party are aware of this. Don’t fall for the kabuki theater.

So they are pulling out all of the stops [up to militarizing the Capitol] to squelch the movement.

Take it to the bank.

i seriously doubt if you get Populism.
The presumption is DC is broken and beyond repair. there isn't a possibilty of reform under the old guard.

DC needs to be replace by those outside the globalists elite establishment. "America First" is a byproduct

Trump is the worse spokesperson for populism, except there isn't anyone else. Plus he's walked the talk
Certainly not the statist Dem..so mind the marginalization of Trump. Dont go full Turtle
Hawley/Cruz is similar but the rest are pretty much critters

After Voting To Acquit, McConnell Torches Trump As Responsible For Riot

--- "There's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day," McConnell said ---

Following Saturday's vote acquitting former President Trump, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell excoriated Trump for his actions on the day of the attack on the U.S. Capitol, calling them a "disgraceful dereliction of duty." But, he said, ultimately, he did not vote to convict the former president because of constitutional concerns.

"There's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day," McConnell said shortly after the 57-43 Senate vote that ended in the former president's acquittal.

"The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their president, and having that belief was a foreseeable consequence of the growing crescendo of false statements, conspiracy theories, and reckless hyperbole which the defeated president kept shouting into the largest megaphone on planet Earth."

McConnell rebuked Trump for his actions after the insurrection as well.

"He did not do his job. He didn't take steps so federal law could be faithfully executed and order restored," he continued

Yeah, that and five cents.

Fuck McConnell. He's the only senator worse than Graham.

I’m waiting for someone to torch whoever it was that was responsible for lack of security on 1/6. Where is the Turtle’s outrage in that?

Every bit of this was easily preventable but it was almost as if it was allowed to happen.

You're so close to finally getting it.

He’s practically not an option anymore.

Democrats will never relent as long as Trump is in office. TDS is a thing. I disagree that there’s no one else. Though I’ll agree there’s no one better at it than Trump. Christy Nome comes to mind. She’s a woman and she embraces the MAGA principles. She’s a an outsider. DeSantis would be good.

Or how about the young firebrand Candace Owens? That would blow the race card up lol. Good bye white supremacy card. She’s actually made some overtures about running. She’s a black woman and wicked smart and quick on her feet.

The good thing about all this is it’s way early. There’s plenty of time but I do think we need to move past Trump at this point. If the movement is about a person it won’t last, anyway.

I love how even Mitch McConnell - the current top Republican elected official in the nation -- is openly saying that the Kraken conspiracy theories and claims of stolen elections were all monumental lies.

Yet in typical cowardly, nut-less QOP fashion, he declined to convict and/or urge his fellow eunuchs to follow suit.

Owens isnt ready.
DeSantis is much better playing politics.. Nome looks good, but I lean towards Desantis ability to fight back

Cruz belong where he is. Rubio is a neocon

The point is there are options and I think republicans need to start thinking in those terms. Trump may actually be more useful from the sidelines. He’ll get a platform at some point:

Ask yourself then who was still in charge on Jan. 6, eh?

I see how you are unhinged as usual lol.

I don’t watch Fox or the ‘news’. I have sources I prefer to keep to myself.

OAN *cough cough* Newsmax *cough cough* Gateway Pundit *cough cough* Parler *cough cough*

Yep, I'd keep that to myself too.

As for the rest of your screed, that's exactly why the (D)s decided to get the trial over with, so we can move on and fix all the stuff your #MalignantMango fucked up. You're welcome.

The coup was unsuccessful, so no one benefited from it. You really are dumber than dog shit, aren't you?

What’s dog shit dumb is thinking a crowd led by a horned shaman could pull off a coup lol.

You really think Trump was trying to execute a coup? You really think this? For reals?

But in his floor speech after the vote, McConnell endorsed the view that “President Trump is still liable for everything he did while he was in office.”

“He didn’t get away with anything, yet,” McConnell said, noting that “we have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil litigation. And former presidents are not immune from being [held] accountable by either one.”

Thousands of Trump's fans and supporters, all spun up by Trump and launched to attack the Capitol, have been backstabbed by Trump and are facing ruin and disgrace in court convictions, some with prison time. They should not be happy with Trump.
