I wonder too. There are reports that many of the Republican senators who have been doodling in notebooks and reading the Sunday funnies actually watched the second half of yesterday's arguments with rapt attention.

Imagine what the rest of the world thinks as they see those images. Imagine, as someone else said, if those Trump flags had been ISIS flags. I am thoroughly anti-Trump, as you know, but the videos from yesterday enraged me as much as they depressed me. This shouldn't even be about Trump anymore. This should be so much bigger.

I don't have any hope for conviction, but I do think anyone who votes against it should be taken to task. They should lose their seats and disappear in disgrace.

I think some will. Cassidy set a good example, to my great surprise. I don't think enough will do the right thing to convict, but I think it will be more than the six who voted on Tuesday.

I hope all continually do so but that's rare these days.

In the case of the Republicans, they're not just afraid for their jobs. They're also afraid of the Monster they've created.
