As I predicted, Obama and his centrist politics is opening the door for republicans to regain control of Congress.
The honeymoon may really be over by the time Obama, the Wall Street President, gets back from europe. He's not going to get much applause there for his belief that the world should pour more money on bankers as he's done here in the US. More and more people are starting to see through the duplicity in his economic policies and priorities. They like him personally, but don't think much of his economics.
Expect capitalism to get a tongue lashing at the G-20 summit with much of the anger directed, correctly so, at the American financial and banking system. Europeans understand that there is no such thing as a "free market" and they're demanding, correctly so, more regulations on Wall Street, and in some cases, international oversight. Obama will be there defending Wall Street as he was paid by Wall Street to do. This should make for a most interesting summit where some there may wonder if having a democrat or a republican in the White House makes any real difference.
But more importantly, Obama's alligence to Wall Street is causing even bigger problems for him at home. Michigan is upset by his duplicity in the way he treated Wall Street compared to how he's treating the auto industry. The governor there acknowledges she has the same sentiment and she's having a hard time defending him. Without unions, Obama is not the president. You can almost hear the air seeping out of the "Yes We Can" balloons.
Republicans, if they're smart .. which is a big ass "if" .. could exploit Obama's centrism and regain control of Congress, just as they did with Clinton.
If that happens, democrats themselves will bear some responsibility for their return because they refuse to criticize Obama when he's wrong just as republicans refused to stand up to Bush and his delusional policies .. and look what happened to them. In four years, democrats could be todays republicans.
In the end, it is the American people who lose as they bounce around in a two-party trap that is controlled by the plutocrats.
The giant hole in democracy has exploded. We exist in a plutocracy.
