Fauci’s call for mask usage comes as record numbers of Americans report wearing masks while in public. The most recent data from researchers at Carnegie Mellon University who have been tracking self-reported mask usage nationwide show that, in 38 states, mask usage is above 90%, while in the remaining 12 it is above 80%.

Those percentages have risen markedly since researchers began keeping track last fall, though the number of daily COVID-19 positive tests, and deaths associated with the virus, has skyrocketed since then.

That's a whole lot of germ incubators in use. I would imagine that this would drive up the cases of bacterial pneumonia where there is no coronavirus, and covid when the virus is present.

Stupidity on an epic scale. Correlation is not causation. Every ACTUAL medical professional knows that the spike is due to lack of public health measures like closing restaurants bars health clubs movie theaters along with holiday gatherings. Instead of believing them you come here and post your ignorant anti mask bullshit.

Is there another way to judge the efficacy of mask use by the general population—besides correlation lol?

An interesting correlation would be the percentage of hospital patients who were avid maskers. You being an incurious Lemming, that probably doesn’t interest you.

On a scale of 1-10 how would you judge the efficacy of public mask mandates in mitigating transmission? With 1 being worthless. Five being ‘maybe helps, a bit’ and ten being Masks are magic.

Well, nothing short of eradication is going to stop it.

It’s more a question of mitigation and I’m not seeing much in the way of that—with much of anything that’s been done.

The virus just keeps on virusing.

The correlation is a lagging indicator. It takes time for mitigation efforts to show results.
