We teach students how to understand the U.S., not to love it — or hate it

No idea what you're talking about.

Yeah, you do...but instead of continuing to insult you (because it's way to easy you prog fuckwit) I'll say this about your OP...it's stupid. It's the same shit the rest of the monkeyass morons post...you know, about republicans and democrats. You really believe the country works that way? If you do you're an idiot.

Here is the problem with this thread....History is now rarely taught in the schools...what is called History now is Victim Culture Cult indoctrination.

Civics has not been generally taught since I was a little boy.
1619 Project is going mainstream
anyone white is a racist by definition.. The history of the USA is based on racism

Kids aren't stupid. They see it. And when their parents complain, they hear it and believe it.
The pledge of allegiance has a lower shelf life than it used to with these kids. Respect must be
earned. When Trump is your leader, you know you live in a royally fucked up place that needs serious fixing.

Which every Democrat or liberal kid see with their parents. Lack of respect for this country, the need for more free shit. Thanks for finally being honest.

Is the United States the world’s greatest country? When asked that question eight years ago, 70 percent of American citizens surveyed said yes.

Now, a recent study by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs shows that only 54 percent answer affirmatively. Democrats are likelier to see their country as normal and Republicans are likelier to see it as uniquely great, but the decline is bipartisan. It’s also age-based: A similar Pew study found that respondents under 30 were markedly less enamored of their country than those over 50. Across the board, U.S. exceptionalism is faltering.

how do people who don't understand the US teach others how to do so?......

see what? kids parrot what they are taught - and yes their parents ( not boomers we are mostly patriotic with the exception of Progressives) arent much better

the concept of patriotism is alien to far left
the concept of American Exceptionalism is anathema to far left
tear it all down according to Progressives like New York Times = our very own Cultural Revolution
isn't that special
...

Not worth talking to you. You never took a college class, did you.
I did back in the 70's.. we had some radical teachers, but we were also grounded in true US history
where we understood the nation was not eternally defined by early slavery.

This was a decade or so after the Civil Rights Act, and we understood the USA could self correct
That notion is gone now

no i said "we were grounded" in US history
Our parents got it. they put things in perspective - sure there was some jingoism post WWII
but we really understood the USA isn't defined by slavery, as modern "history educators" would force feed kids

Patriotism is something that all twump supports universally lack.
American Exceptionalism is toxic magical thinking.
We're not tearing it all down, moron. We're going to build back up and strengthen what twump has damaged.

Trump is loyal to Putin and they're worried liberals are teaching the wrong history!

ha ha ha
tearing it down? why not show the complete picture instead? because a true picture doesn't fit your narrartive

No one denies slavery or Jim Crow
you people are in denial that these are extant today -they are not.
we fought a Civil war to end it, and passed Civil Rights legislation to further equalize any disadvantages
from Jim Crow

as to American Exceptionalism you are incapable of separating the neocon/neo libs abuse of the term
to fit their warmongering vs. classical definition of America as a "can do"
