If you want to understand why we really are this divided these days, look no further than media, social media..... I strongly recommend you all watch this documentary. you are a commodity that increases their profits the more divided you are.

that is part of it, but there are still fundamental issues that have divided us for years irrespective of social media.

does social media provide a catalyst to make it worse? No doubt.

But it comes down to the simple fact that 50% of the country can't agree on how the country should be run. That is unsustainable. So instead of forcing 50% of the people to live unhappily every four to eight years, wouldn't it be best to just have an amicable divorce and divide up the property?

This relationship is not working. We do not agree on fundamental issues of governance like the muder of an unborn child, taxation, private property etc. Now we can continue on this path to eventual civil war or we can part ways amicably. The left can live in their socialist utopia of no borders, electric cars, no fossil fuels and taxing the rich at 90% to pay for it all.

The rest of us will live by the free market and not let leftists in for longer than two days

its much more sinister than that, watch the documentary. its not just shadow bans and biased social media, it's much more darker than that.

It’s Fox News

Fox has spewed right wing lies for decades

Without fox the Republican Party would already be dead

I appreciate the recommendation, but I don't need to watch it to know how destructive social media has become. I do not participate in social media platforms other than Parler, but I rarely go there. I joined merely as a political statement against the censorship of the other platforms

I've heard about this & would be happy to read a precis/synopsis/rundown of the ideas, but won't be watching it.

you would do well to watch the documentary, it may open your eyes and see that no, it's not solely fox news.

I didn’t say solely

Fox is listened to by old people who don’t do the internets

They are the CORE of the Republican Party base

Old racists who were taught to be racists all their lives

It's important to remember that while the MSM is wildly biased toward profit, division & social control/engineering of a liberal bent, social media created false connections that have inevitably fractured.

There's a reason you weren't in touch with a lot of the people from your past, and Facebook reveals it nakedly.

See these republicans seek to tear this union asunder

Fucking traitors

My son highly recommended this to me.

I knew most of whats in it, but its such a deep rabbit hole it is really hard to explain and articulate. the fact these are the guys who developed these things now railing against it, and they explain it very very well it's a must see. I'm making my son watch it tonight.

Exactly. If someone is important to me, I will make an effort through text, phone or yes even writing a letter. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are lazy way out

I tried finding it. I was going to rent it, buy it, or steal it. I guess it's only on Netflix and you have to stream it.
The way my son described it, it's a 'Tell-All'.

Oh yes - I have read about the content of this.

It was all pretty evident from the get, but good to see the initial scumbags involved confirming it.

The year cable news became a thing it was for profit. If you needed a documentary to realize this, no wonder we’re in this position. If you watch cable news for anything but entertainment you are part of the problem.

The way my son described it to me, was that they put you in 'groups', 'silos', 'buckets'. They (the social platforms) find what you like and then target you with everything related to that. Are you a 'religious' person, they surround you with everything religious until you think EVERYONE is a religious person. Are you a 'racist'. They inundate you with everything that would be considered racist and after awhile you think EVERYONE is racist. Are you a 'Communist', ... 'Gun Lover', ... 'Social Conservative', ... the List goes on.
The eventual effect is that you are in your 'own world', unconnected with actual everyday people that are all around you. It divides the Country. There's no real communication between one 'silo' and the next. From what my son tells me, it's a pretty good descriptor of why the Country is like it is.

Your son is correct

But

Lots of old people (the main Republican base) don’t do the internets

Fox did this to this nation

Fair enough. It's called, "marketing." Nothing new, just different technology.
