New Jersey AG overhauls police use of force rules / usnews.com / associated press

New Jersey’s top law enforcement official on Monday unveiled new guidelines for use of force governing use of force for the state’s nearly 40,000 police officers, saying the changes would make the state a leader in police reform and help restore public trust.

The new reforms, which has been promised since wise spread protests against police brutality sets up a framework for police interactions with civilians, the AG said in a statement.

Among the new policies are a prohibition against any physical use of force against a civilian except as a last resort and only after attempts at de-escalation, a ban on use of deadly force against civilians by using chokeholds and strikes to the head and neck except as a last resort, and a ban against firing at moving vehicles in a chase.

Many other changes in policy are also going into effect.

BLM has advanced the issue of serious police reform farther than it has ever been, and again the Democratic Party sits on the wrong side of effective change.

Simply giving criminals more advantage, what if they shoot at the cop from a moving vehicle. Every time a police Officer does any of the things mentioned it is a last resort!

use of force was always supposed to be a "last resort". the problem is what do you do with a belligerent suspect?
Is putting them in cuffs "force" for everyone's safety?

what about bank robbers/kidnappers/ felons etch who attempt to flee? just let them go?
Because that's a recipe for a free for all crime spree -just make it to the car and you
are golden

Still these aren't all that bad like the crazed LA Dist Atty who is basically not charging a lot of crimes
or "no bail" revolving door "justice"

None of that is as bad as murdering innocent people who pose no threat to police officers who shoot people in the back and murder them for existing while black.

How did Camden figure out how to balance police responsibilities and how to do their jobs while at the same time reducing crime and shooting and abusing less innocent people? To suggest that murdering innocent people is simply good police work is nonsense. At what point does bad police officers and rogue tactics become the focus?

Nor will you have to listen to BLM when whites like you mass murder other innocent white people, children, and babies. Don’t concern yourself about BLM WHEN YOU WALK INTO SCHOOLS and slaughter everybody in sight or when you blow up buildings with babies inside, or sitin buildings abve a country western festival and mass murder countless innocent people. oh this is an old event? I did read about it.. there were some exigent circumstances but good for them

But defunding is NOT working elsewhere -NY, Portland, Minneapolis, etc

Democrats are ignoring a key piece of criminal justice reform ... slicing police budgets washingtonpost.com

Slicing/cutting/defunding police department budgets are key to forcing departments to focus on bad rogue cops and practices. it is what Republican Governor Christie did in New Jersey years ago, and today New Jersey has enacted the best police reform in the country, while maintaining safety for its citizens, lower police murder of citizen rates, and a renewed respect for law enforcement.

Democrats dont even want to talk about it. Strange given that democrats are so heavily dependent on black voters who are the most impacted by rogue officers and departments. This in spite of the fact that many municipalities are defunding their departments all across the country and now an entire state is addressing the issue in spite of democrats running away from it.

I have no problem addressing anything I post as long as the question isnt asked with the same vitriol that hoosier always uses.

Can't understand why normal everyday human beings woud ever be against Police Use of Force Policies after visually witnessing a slow tourcher and murder on natioanl TV by a Policeman. I mean I totally understand why a Racist would see no problem with that, but not a normal everyday human being.
