McCain was the only politician period who stood up to Cheney's (via Yu) desire to torture foreign enemy combatants. Even McCain isn't a neo-con, he is simply part of the Military, as described by Ike in his Military Industrial Complex speech. McCain came from a line of Military officers. He just never stopped be a warrior. That didn't make him a Neo-con.
