Press Conference

And not spending money on infrastucture and throwing pallets of hundered dollar bills into a dessert so that they can be used to bribe Haliburton employees for the megerest of services will give you what we got right now.

Tax Cuts are NOT the answer to EVERYTHING.

This is the only idea other than protracted war that has come out of your party in years.

Desh the cost of the Iraq War has been less than the amount of this stimulus package. The Iraq War did not get us into this financial mess. The Iraq War did not cause the melt down on Wall St. And lowering taxes did not cause the melt down on Wall St.

Obambi did OK .. but his answers were long-winded and evasive. He ran away from Helen Thomas's question.

Yet, I find all this a bit ridiculous. Why is Obambi and the democrats whining when they have the votes to pass legislation they want?

Why is it necessary to strip the legislation down to appease a few republicans if in fact they've been so rejected by the American public?

This "bipartisan" nonsense demonstrates democrats don't have the courage to lead.

How about fuck what republicans think and pass legislation that is EFFECTIVE, not bipartisan.

Well there was no way he was going to confirm that Israel has the nuke, so I am realistic about that.

As far as his long rambling answers, I didn't find them to be, but what was more interesting, is that my Republican brother, who is a business owner who voted for McCain and intensely dislikes Obama, was won over. So was my sister-in-law who did not vote for him either, and who is not very sharp to put it kindly. She said that "he explained it, now i get it!"

And he does need 60 votes, but he's got those. The thing is the blue dogs are acting out in the HOuse, and this bill still has to go to committee, where things can be put back in. If those things are put back in, if the public isn't strongly behind Obama, you're going to see the blue dogs revolt.

After last night, I think that less likely, and we may get a better bill because of it. But we'll see.

He truely wanted to bring the country together.

It may not be possible to bring everyone along.

The people will clearly see some are just to wrapped up in partisan hackery.

Then those who insist on being assholes, who put party over country, will be left to coat closet of the congress
.

says one of the biggest partisan hacks on the board....

Some of his stated goals are pure fantasy and demonstrate no understanding of the reality of politics. He seems to believe the "messiah" talk and believes he has the power to change the basic nature of politics.

Republicans will NEVER embrace him no matter how much he kisses their ass and even the republican he selected for Commerce won't vote to approve his stimulus package.

Every partisan puts party over country .. including partisan democrats.

In her defense she did say that since the Democrats want what's best for America its ok to support them. It's supporting the Republican Party that's putting party over country.

That's about right. Hell, the Republicans have taken to calling themselves "freedom fighters" and "insurgents" and are modeling their actions on the Taliban.

How long will that be the case?

estimates that include taking care of the wounded and the deads families go well beyond a trillion.

We will get benifit from the stimulus, we got more terror and LOTS of dead people to show for the money dumped into Iraq.

Its not for the assholes benifit its for the countries benifit.

He had to try and reach out to them before he could prove to the rest of the country just how bankrupt of decency they are.

They are about to be the scurge of the nation.

Well, this thread has certainly been amusing, but irrelevant. There will always be the dead-enders, people like meme and icedancer, whom I know to be two of the biggest bushhors anyone has ever met. After all, 20-something percent of the population still supported Nixon when he was forced from office for being a slimey crook.

They are so far out of the mainstream, but what happened is that during this country's temporary insanity which took root post-9/11, they got to feeling that they were in the majority. But that temporary insanity was always going to wear off, and these fringe fanatics, were never the majority in this country.

Welcome to oblivion. :)

Hahaha, you're such a little fatty :)

I can't tell you how much I hate listening to politicians, especially presidents, getting into long-winded responses about some helpless soul in Buttfuck, USA who can't pay their mortgage or who has lost their job. We get it .. Americans are losing their jobs and homes.

Additionally, as is the way of the centrist, he too often took both sides of the issue as he did when responding to whether the Bush Administration would face investigation of their crimes.

Overall, I believe he accomplished what he set out to do and made it harder for republicans to stay the course .. however, he created some of the stone-walling himself by insisting that republicans mattered. He also demonstrated his ability and willingness to communicate, in stark contrast to the past 8 years. He will get high marks for his performance.

However, the stupidity of appointing a republican to a critical economic post who woin't even support his main and most critical economic piece of legistaion .. THEN, having the NH governor appoint a republican to the very Senate where he needs votes is simply mind-blowing stupid of the highest order .. no matter who would do such a thing .. it's just stupid and not the mark of real leadership.

Those of us who remain above the partisanship, bipartisanship, and theatrics are not impressed by performances.

I agree actually.

.

Man isn't that the truth and I don't mean the comment specifically at Obama. It's like its taught in Political Speaking 101.

my thoughts exactly..who the hell is AABBA?
You seem to have some obscene obsession over them, but if you don't mind, you can stop calling this person..I don't like the name..

you are one strange person..
I thought ABBA was a crappy early 80s band. Wasn't it?

Very few sane people on the face of planet earth needed any further demonstration of how bankrupt the republicans are .. and I don't think it was ever Obambi's intention to put on such a demonstration. He truly believes in the politics of centrism, thus the only thing that matters is winning, not issues, not principle, not the best policy .. and he said as much several times last night.

Just send him a bill he can sign that includes creating or SAVING 4 million jobs ..he doesn't care what it does or does not have in it.

Obambi is the master of nuance .. you'd best check out what it means to "save" jobs and how do you quantify it.

Hahaha! Your aabba delusions are an obsession still? LOL

Remember, I've seen ya dardar, ya little fatty ;)

You get creepier with every delusional post you make. And for someone who has followed me here after FIVE FUCKING years of unsuccessful stalking, and stalking of the wrong people? You're really in no position to talk.

I think that you'd like to get me into a mud wrestle here. You always were the proverbial pig, enjoying it. But I’m going to walk away from that here the same way I walked away from you there. And that is what has always driven you even more crazy than you were the day you showed up in cyberspace and stank it up.
