yep, cheney is still using the tried and true conservative, drive with fear rather than lead

he is predicting that the terrorists are coming the terrorists are coming...as usual so that if or when they attack he can say, see i told you so...you slacked off torture to prevent such an attack...of course he likely hopes it will happen before he is convicted of war crimes involving torture...

bho is saying if you don't sign my stimulus bill now the economy will tank beyond disaster. Therefore if its not signed he can say I told you so. Using fear is not a partisan trait among politicians. It is recognized most by partisans however.

actually, he is saying that you will be blamed if you do not and he will be blamed if you do

it may already be too deep to save if nothing is done and even if something is done

the stimulus planned needed to go into effect at least 5 months ago

best hope, imho, is that the plan may cause the depression/recession to not go so deep and/or so long

ps i have a growth in my neck and am in a bad mood :eek:, will see the doc on the 17th so they can tell be what they plan on doing (what no few would like to do...cut my throat...) also, they will do a biopsy then - it seems to be on my thyroid and attached to my carotid and pulses - now that i have grossed you out :p - oh well

You're comparing a real crisis to the bogeyman, and "we'll lose more jobs" to "you're all going to die."

He is saying that and I dont like that tactict. Certantly he is so far using fear MUCH less than Bush/Cheney ever did, but its still a cheap and unbeneficial tactict.

I will say that using fear of economic trouble is nuthing compared to using fear of physical attack and possable death of oneself or ones loved ones.

It amazes me how little you people care for our national security. You'd risk suffering another terrorist attack than have a bucket of water poured over some terrorist's head. Waterboarding has saved American lives. That's enough justification for me.

Out of respect for those who died for our rights and freedoms, I would rather risk another terrorist attack than giving up those rights and freedoms.

I understand your perspective, but I have to disagree. I don't believe suspected terrorists are entitled to the same rights and privileges as American citizens. The first duty of our government is to protect Americans. That is why I am in favor of waterboarding, so long as it is done in a way that causes no permanent physical harm.

Heres the thing you are not facing in this issue. Torture does not give you accuate intell. Its been said by every one of our experts.

Bush used it to procure the intell they wanted to advance their agenda.

I dont want ANY president to be able to do this again.

Your real point is it was a failure not to use the tactic before we got attacked but is a failure to use the tactic since we have not been attacked again.

"My side" says something well it must be true. The "other side" says something well that must be out of fear.

You are aware, aren't you, that we prosecuted Japanese soldiers for having poured a bucket of water over US and Australian soldiers heads right? Tell you what, let me waterboard your grandmother while you watch and you tell me that there is nothing to it. I am tired of people like you shitting on the memories of American's that were tortured just like this because now it is in the name of our"national security".
