The second you get caught it's off to the gulag for you. The government hates competition...
politalker is a loon.
The second you get caught it's off to the gulag for you. The government hates competition...
So do Socialists. Propaganda keeps them in power.
Or, the government would rip you off instead.
All of the above can and does happen in a Socialist society. The government can lie to you with impunity. At least in a Capitalist society today, there are watchdogs both in government and society that call out false advertising by private companies. With the government there is none.
The government can even imprison those that question what they say. That happens all the time in Socialist societies.
For example, in France a lot of bad news goes unreported simply because the government wants it unreported.
The CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) cuts both ways. They often shove an excess of safety down our throats because they can.
Same thing. They may be a boon to some, to others they're just another bureaucracy getting in the way.
The CFPB is a boon to those who get ripped off. It gets in the way of the oligarchs who are profiting from the rip-offs.
The only difference between a Capitalist society and a Socialist society is who's doing the ripping off. In the former it's private companies and individuals subject to getting caught and prosecuted by government. In the latter it's government who isn't beholden to anyone and isn't libel for anything they do. A perfect example of this in action is the Gold King mine disaster.

If a private corporation did that, they'd be held libel for billions in clean up and restitution. But because it was the EPA running the show they washed their hands of all liability and told those harmed by their actions, "Too bad. We're the government and we're not libel for anything we do..."
Explain why Republican politicians and conservative message boarders have spent years saying Europe is socialist.
What countries were they talking about, if Denmark is supposedly not included as socialist?
You realize socialism is immoral right? With capitalism one is required to but anything. It requires voluntary participation between 2 socialism does not. That alone make a it the most horrible system ever devised. You are intent on creating class warfare. That's about as Marxist as you can get. You have no sense whatsoever.
My favorite short list of American socialism are:
Public libraries
NASA-space program
Public universities
Medicare
Green Bay Packers
American conservatism is immoral. One of the most immoral political position ever. And it continues its immoral path because it is peopled by morons.
I accept your tacit admission that Republicans have, in fact, a long history of calling countries like Denmark, France, Germany, Sweden socialist.I don't know about you but I'm not a mind reader! May I remind you, you lefties you included have held up Europe as a socialist utopia for years! How about you answering your own question and while your at it prove me wrong.
Norway is More Socialist than Venezuela or China
Norwegian workers are heavily protected, with 70 percent of workers covered by union contracts, and over a third directly employed by the government. The Norwegian state operates a gigantic sovereign wealth fund, and its financial assets total 331 percent of its GDP (as compared to an American figure of 25 percent).
Meanwhile, its state-owned enterprises are worth 87 percent of GDP.
Of all the domestic wealth in Norway, the government owns 59 percent, and fully three-quarters of the non-home wealth (as most Norwegians own their home).
Reliable statistics on the Venezuelan economy are hard to come by, but Norway is unquestionably more socialist than Venezuela according to the above definition.
Indeed, it is considerably more socialist than supposedly-communist China, where only 31 percent of national wealth is owned by the state.
Norway is not some destitute hellscape. Indeed, not only are Norwegian stores well-stocked with toilet paper, it is actually considerably more wealthy than the U.S., with a GDP of over $70,000 per person. Even when you correct for the moderately large oil sector (which accounts for a bit less than a quarter of its exports), it still has a cutting-edge, ultra-productive economy — far from some petro-state living off oil rents like Dubai.
Socially, it routinely ranks as the happiest (2017) or second-happiest (2018) country in the world. The rest of the Nordics are also usually among the top five as well — even more remarkable when you factor in the phenomenon of seasonal affective disorder and the extreme northerly position of the Scandinavian peninsula.
On a snapshot of other quality-of-life measures, Norway boasts:
A life expectancy of 81.7 years.
An infant mortality rate of two per 1,000 live births.
A murder rate of 0.51 per 100,000.
An incarceration rate of 74 per 100,000.

By the standard metrics you are using to measure socialism, Norway is more socialist than Venezuela or communist China.
Capitalism has been a brilliant method of totally revolutionising societies and producing more wealth, but unfortunately it turns people into commodities, concentrates the wealth in fewer and fewer hands, alienates us from our work and one another, has frequent huge breakdowns and is unable to deal with the needs of the species, which it is likely to burn off the earth. There are different definitions of 'socialism', many of them hugely muddled by the use of the word in justifying various eastern regimes. For many it is a natural modification of capitalism such as you see in most advanced countries, for others control of society by the democratic majority who do all the productive work. I feel that anything but the second, very, very soon, will mean the end of humanity, the sort of destruction Trump embodies, and which horrifies me.
Those are government services, not socialism. Socialism is public ownership of the means of production and distribution (oil companies, ship building, utilities, manufacturing)
Medicare is not socialism because it involves an entire system of privately owned and operated hospitals, doctors, nurses, medical supply manufacturers, drug companies, insurance companies. NASA primarily operates by private companies.
If a government owned business manufactures tire wipes and charcoal starter and you buy it are you being ripped off by socialism? Or, are you just a dumb consumer?
The U. S. already has the Office of Consumer Affairs, Federal Trade Commission, U. S. Product Safety Commission, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, National Highway Safety Administration and consumer protection offices in every state. If these "socialist" agencies aren't protecting us from tire wipes then more agencies will not do so.
China manufactures both tire wipes and charcoal starter.
Prove to loud mouth moron. I showed why socialism is immoral. You on the other hand, like always, just shoots shut out of your ass. So prove it you fun gobbling piece if shit.
Ahhh...you want me to "prove" that American conservatism is immoral!!!
Nah. I'd rather let you jerkoffs prove it yourself...which people like you do with almost every post.

In 2915 Danish prime minister Lars Rasmussen said, "Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy". Fucking get it idiot. It doesn't matter what the fuck any of those people claim.
The difference is that EVERYFUCKINGBODY in Sweden and Denmark pays taxes. More than half the people in the US don't pay federal taxes. In Sweden and Denmark they have a consumption tax. You fucking morons would never go for that so shut the fuck up.

The top 10% have taken the wealth from the bottom 90%.
You aren't playing stupid are you?
Hello Michael_Panetta,
And continue to.
Until we do something about it.
Conservatives want us to roll over and pretend it's either not happening, or that it doesn't matter.
If that is true, and assuming conservatives were not lying their flabby asses off, explain why conservatives routinely and almost universally call called Obamacare or any universal single payer national health insurance proposal, socialist.
