and they did so because they were not threatened by me or felt persecuted or compelled.
as to taqiyya - the word is primarily shiite in use...and it permits - as opposed to compels - muslims to conceal their faith only when under threat, persecution or compulsion.

as stated, the only time that lying is permitted - not even compelled - is when the muslim - almost always shiite - feels that he or she is under threat, persecution or compulsion. None of the muslims that I knew and lived with were under any such conditions while socializing with me. And again, you probably would much more interesting to talk with, and would be more effective as a communicator, if you didn't try so hard to be such an insufferable little prick... I'm just sayin'..

- that Ward Churchill is not "liberals" in general
- that Bush was one of our worst 5 Presidents
- the size of the green zone
- that Sarah Palin was a drag on the McCain ticket because she was a lousy VP candidate, not because she let herself be reigned in by staffers
- that Clear Skies was never passed into law
- that a few used sarin cannisters from '91 weren't the WMD's Bush was talking about
- 1/3

i wouldn't put to much stock in his alleged experiences over two decades ago...especially given that any alleged socializing with muslims was in lebanon and that he only talked a few muslims out of how many billion? and that he was in an official capacity, i don't know if he has mentioned on this forum, so i can't say.
but he definitely (if true even there) was not just going around as a buddy or someone just living there...

I also don't know of any Alabamians who would round up women and shoot them in the head for not wearing a head cover or talking back to their old man. I don't need to enlist, we have record numbers of young people already enlisting, because they are unlike you, they are decent human beings who see the injustice and realize they must fight it. LIAR. I have never once made excuses for any of those crimes... and I certainly have never condoned them. I have NEVER said that radical islam was "about economic plight". I have said, that economic plight makes AQ a more attractive option for many downtrodden muslims. Attendance at Boston Red Sox games goes UP on sunny summer days when the temperature is in the low 70's. That does not mean that the national pastime is "about" relatively cool summer days any more than pointing out that economic hardship makes radical islam an interesting and compelling alternative means that radical islam is "about" economic inequity.

I know, and I have shown that assertion to be wholly invalid. First of all, there is no option for many of these people, they can ascribe to radical Islam or fucking die, they have no real choice. This shit is being forced on them against their will, in many cases, and that is part and parcel of the problem! Secondly, there is absolutely nothing in the radical message to foster hope for better equity, in fact, it speaks out against the very equity you claim these people are searching for! Lastly, there is also no mention of personal freedom or freedom from tyranny, quite the contrary, radical Islam preached obedience to the Ayatollah's, Mullah's and Clerics, and following their interpretation of what Allah wants, forsaking your own personal freedoms! Nothing about radical Islam preaches equality for women or gays, or religious tolerance, again... quite the contrary!
The basis and premise of you argument is absurd and devoid of logic, it has no basis in reality, and no evidence of support. It is a dusted-off template of an argument for inner-city youth being attracted to gangs, and in THAT scenario, you may have some kind of a point, but that is NOT what radical Islam is about, it has nothing to do with the same dynamics or motivations, and for you to continue to stubbornly cling to something that is completely out of the realm of rationalization, is evidence of your own moral cowardice and lack of ethics.
