Best guess is Covid-19 came from Laos. It crossed over into human the most recent time in China, but has crossed back and forth between humans and bats for a long time before that. Now it has been almost completely eliminated from China, but it is still going strong in the USA.

The EU is currently making arrangements for free travel between the EU and China, but making no such attempt with the USA, which is still considered a major source nation.
