Word on the street is.......

Most Islamic countries aren't based upon the ideals, principles, standards, nor values that America is and that America professes to pursue

Well, to be blunt, America hasn't consistently adhered to these things either. Also, it should be clear that when Jefferson wrote "all men are created equal", he was only talking about white men (and really only landowning white men). To extend this phrase to women and people of all races was a relatively modern interpretation. Our ideals have changed over time, so they can be hard to define sometimes.

I'll say this much. You have more faith in humanity than I do. Prejudice is something that happens naturally for humans, and some of it is actually beneficial for survival. In societies where everyone is so racially mixed that they share a common heritage, there is instead something called "colorism." People still discriminate based on skin tone.

Another interesting thing is that colorism happens among minorities themselves. The black community has a long history of treating lighter skinned blacks differently from darker ones. Usually, the lighter skinned black people are treated better among their own people.

So, as far as I can tell, prejudice is here to stay. Racism might go away if we racially mix enough, but we'll just replace it with colorism.

I just look at history. Look how far women & the gay community have come, and how far racial equality has come in a single generation.

It's baby steps for sure. But I do believe we'll get there - it may take centuries, but some things are very hard to unlearn. In the scheme of history, slavery wasn't THAT long ago.

I think skin color will be like hair color someday, or eye color. A differentiator, but hardly something people notice.

There are now numerous reports of white supremacists involved in these protests. There is a reason that the CNN headquarters was targeted. The Trump Cult has now hit new lows.

We make progress, but I think we also take steps backward. I think the direction we're going in with the trans agenda is a good example. Redefining words just to fit certain people's delusions isn't progress.

Antifa going bye bye. POTUS to list as terror organization, by executive order if need be. This is good news. Hunt those scum down like the dogs they are and put them to sleep.....

Antifa is not a defined organization and has no structure or leader.

There is no domestic terrorism law.

Just more self-aggrandizing Trump bullshit.

No, I mean that, Antifa is as much a "bit of nothing" as Floyd's death is.

Floyd's death is a bit of nothing? You are kidding aren't you? So a dozen major cities are practically being burned to the ground because of his death and you call that "a bit of nothing"? Now just watch Chauvin get a slap on the hand without going to prison and we can watch them being burned to the ground again. But not to worry, that's just a "bit of nothing".

People make a bigger deal out of this than is necessary, but the media loves a good racebaiting story.

Yeah, I don't know why the media even bother reporting about it. It's just most of our major cities being burned to the ground, it isn't as if it's all of them.

The routine killings in south Chicago aren't inflammatory enough for heavy media coverage (or riots).

The first thing you have said that makes any fucking sense. You are right, routine killings by gang member types are never going to compare with cops killing unarmed citizens without cause.

In a rare Sunday afternoon missive issued by the justice department, Barr reinforced Donald Trump’s earlier assertions of outside influence, and claimed that “violent radical elements” have hijacked peaceful protests.

“Groups of outside radicals and agitators are exploiting the situation to pursue their own separate, violent and extremist agenda,” Barr wrote, without citing evidence. “It is time to stop watching the violence and to confront and stop it.”

Notice Trump and Barr say nothing about the legitimate outrage over a cop choking to death a black man.

I'm not saying the cop shouldn't be held accountable. I'm saying it shouldn't be a national news story. The cop will hopefully get a long prison sentence.

My point is that the media takes situations like this and blows them out of proportion. It means more ratings for them and destruction for everyone else.

Blacks have talked about selective and systemic police abuse and violence against them for decades. With the advent of smart phones and cams, it appears they were correct all those many years.

True, it's not a bit of nothing at this point -- thanks to the ridiculous response to it by both the media and various destructive idiots.

You do love your strawmen. Your reading comprehension should discern that I was talking about the story before it was spread everywhere constantly and before the riots occurred.

The first thing you have said that makes any fucking sense. You are right, routine killings by gang member types are never going to compare with cops killing unarmed citizens without cause.

If the gang members only killed other gang members, I would agree. However, a large portion of their victims are not gang members.
