The Ten Greatest Things About Corona Virus...

I've discovered a few new stores I would never have visited that I like.

I've seen some social workers engaged with the homeless near my office that were always ignored.

A very nice forced experiment on climate change amelioration.

More hands on time teaching my boy so I know exactly what he is doing.

Playing a LOT of one on one basketball with boy, trading basketball cards with him. playing connect 4, reading him books...

No traffic driving to work.

No traffic riding my bike.

Lots of gardening and deferred maintenance being done.

Being grateful for my very lucky situation thus far.

It's easy to be overwhelmed by all the bad news. There's plenty of it.

So it never hurts to realize there are actually good things about the Corona virus. What could possibly be good about it, you say? Fair question. Turns out, there are some good things. Here's the 10 best things I have noticed about the Corona Virus:

10. Homes have never been cleaner. With all this time on our hands, people are cleaning more thoroughly and more frequently. Especially those often-touched surfaces! I don't know about you, but my doorknobs have never been so clean! And for once, we're all caught up on the laundry. Homemaking has reached a new level.

9. Gardening and the arts. More people have planted or are planning to plant gardens this year because now they finally have the time to do what they really feel like doing. Many are growing things to eat. Others are reacquainting themselves with their inner artist. It is a rare massive movement toward the arts. Bravo.

8. Eating better. Now that everyone is forced to buy food, bring it home and cook it, people are eating better than fast food. Especially if they are using whole foods instead of highly processed.

7. The political parties came together on some things!

6. Taking the time to call and say hello. People are spending more time kicking back and talking on the phone just for the fun of talking and staying in touch.

5. Cars washed, waxed and detailed. Lawns and grounds raked and manicured.

4. Resurgence in reading. People who never had time to read books are now finding the time. People are learning more. Humans are getting smarter.

3. All the incredibly selfless acts of kindness. Neighbors helping one another, and helping strangers. Some of the stories are touching.

2. Spending more time with loved ones. How much quality time do we normally get with the rest of the family? Got that covered now. For small children of young working parents this is fabulous. None of them are complaining that mom and dad are around for them any time of day. Board games never got so much use...

1. Cleaner skies, less pollution and less global warming:

"On Tuesday, LA saw some of the cleanest air of any major city in the world, according to IQAir, a Swiss air quality technology company which also monitors pollution levels in cities around the globe.

And beginning in early March of this year, EPA air quality data shows that the city of Angels experienced its longest stretch of "good" air quality since at least 1995.

Dr. Yifang Zhu, a professor of environmental health sciences at UCLA's Fielding School of Public Health, said that she and her colleagues identified a similar trend.
Between March 16 -- three days before California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered the state's 40 million residents to stay home -- and April 6, Zhu's team found there was a 20% improvement in overall air quality in Southern California."

LA - With Clear Skies, No Smog - Amazing!

I bet if you think about it, you can think of other good stuff about this crisis. Any silver linings to your cloud?

Which one of those helps people pay their house and car payment?

Something to lighten the mood a bit...

The Lone Ranger and Tonto were having dinner at a sushi bar.

The Lone Ranger says: "This is alright, hunh Tonto?"

And Tonto says...

"More wasabi, Kemosahbee."

This is not the "big one". Sooner or later, we will be looking at a much bigger pandemic. This smaller pandemic might teach us how to deal with a bigger pandemic.

That’s me, I almost feel guilty.

My remaining buddies at work are getting slammed while I sit at home, do a bunch of projects, fish, ride my mountain bike, visit family, pop a beer, cut grass, take naps, eat. It’s wonderful.

And totally unsustainable. It what it is.

I’m going to ride those trails near me today before the 4-ever rain sets in. I hiked some of it Sunday or whatever the hell day it was [thats another thing, I lose track of days]. It looks like they converted some old logging roads to bike trails. It’s really wide in most places and pretty much anyone who can stay on a bike could ride 80% of what I saw.

My other place [Kanawha Forest, if anyone is mind numbingly bored and wants to google lol] is all single-track. In fact, there’s a fair amount of it that’s beyond my skill level. Also there’s no easy way to the top to get to the good trials. You’re either pushing the bike up the hill or riding one of the gravel access roads up hill for about 25-30 minutes to the top. The rest of it is great fun though.

But I can get on top in a few minutes at the new place and it’s closer to home so I’m going to try it out.

11. The Corona virus will be Trump's downfall too, his in-action and slow response to the virus and the Trump economy is toast too! I don't see him getting re-elected?!!

Hello Darth,

That’s me, I almost feel guilty.

That sounds great. Nothing to feel guilty about. You're doing your part by staying away from others. And that is so important.

And it's important to get outside and get some vitamin D.

My gardening, lawn care and vehicle detailing, etc gets me outside, gets exposure to sunlight, gets all-important vitamin D, sense of accomplishment, worth and well-being.

I come here to challenge my mind and knowledge of politics, awareness of current events.

I think it's great that people can share like this.

Thanks to you; and all who participate in a benevolent way.

It's ever so greatly appreciated.

More so, now that normal social contacts have been so limited.

I'm really glad we have this medium.
